**Role Scope & Purpose**

The DevOps & Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments that enable software delivery at speed and scale. This role bridges development and operations, automating processes, ensuring system reliability, and building a cloud-native infrastructure that supports the engineering team's ability to ship quickly and confidently. The DevOps Engineer champions a culture of automation, observability, and continuous improvement.

**Key Responsibilities**

-   Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure using infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
-   Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment processes.
-   Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, or AKS).
-   Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, or CloudWatch.
-   Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance, leading incident response and post-mortem processes.
-   Manage cloud cost optimization and enforce infrastructure best practices.
-   Implement and maintain security controls across the infrastructure including IAM, secrets management, and network security.
-   Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer experience, tooling, and deployment workflows.
-   Manage environment configuration, secrets management, and environment parity.
-   Maintain infrastructure documentation and runbooks.

## Requirements

**Requirements**

-   3 to 5 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
-   Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
-   Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
-   Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
-   Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI.
-   Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, or Go).
-   Strong understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture principles.
-   Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
-   Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment for team calls.
-   Availability to work US time zones.
-   Comfortable working as an independent contractor.

**Nice to Have**

-   Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional, or Azure Administrator.
-   Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
-   Knowledge of GitOps workflows such as ArgoCD or Flux.
-   Experience with database management and scaling in cloud environments.
-   Familiarity with security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
-   Experience in a high-availability, high-traffic production environment.
