# Lawyers in Local Government Careers

> <p>Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) was formed in April 2013 by the merger of the Association of Council Secretaries and Solicitors (ACSeS) and Solicitors in Local Government (SLG).</p><p>LLG's primary purpose is to represent, promote and support the interests of its member which include local government legal or governance officers working within a local authority, including Monitoring Officers and their deputies, solicitors, barristers, legal executives, licenced conveyancers and trainees. LLG currently has a 97% membership uptake from authorities eligible. </p><p> LLG has 7 staff members and produces a host of membership benefits and training courses including two annual flagship conferences, a stakeholder engagement reception, the LLG Awards, a weekly bulletin, 11 regional branches with activities, 10 National Special Activity Leads, 100 regional leads, consultation responses, thought leadership, weekly training courses, model codes of guidance, monitoring officer ebook, monitoring officer defence scheme, a competency framework, bursaries and mentoring schemes. LLG also has 8 valued corporate partners from the legal and technological market and enjoy strong ties with a variety of stakeholder groups including the Irish and Scottish lawyer groups. </p>
