**About the American Connection Corps:**

The [American Connection Corps](https://www.americanconnectioncorps.org/) (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility, ranging from healthcare access to quality employment.

ACC Members spend a year serving with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Through their service, they gain hands-on experience, build in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while making a tangible impact in their communities.

**About Global Health and Education Projects, Inc.**

Global Health and Education Projects, Inc. (GHEP) is a Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health, education, environmental awareness, and community well-being. GHEP develops and supports community-centered programs that address social determinants of health, strengthen families, promote environmental stewardship, and expand access to practical health information and resources.

**Position Overview**

The Program Associate: Community Outreach and Engagement will provide operational, communications, research, and data support across all GHEP programs:

• Greater Prince George’s Diaper Bank

• Family Tree Adoption Program

• Health and Environmental Education Program

• Public Health 360

• International Journal of Maternal and Child Health and AIDS (IJMA)

• International Journal of Translational Medical Research and Public Health (IJTMRPH)

The Service Member will support program administration, digital communications, records management, journal promotion, stakeholder databases, performance monitoring, and impact reporting.

**Key Responsibilities**

-   Support community outreach for the Family Tree Adoption Program by engaging residents in climate-change education, environmental stewardship, tree adoption, and tree-planting activities.
-   Assist staff with developing and distributing outreach materials and expanding relationships with community organizations, schools, faith-based groups, and residents.
-   Support planning, promotion, participant engagement, and implementation of GHEP’s Health and Environmental Education and Awareness Day.
-   Support the Greater Prince George’s Diaper Bank through family outreach, community engagement, distribution events, referrals, and partner engagement.
-   Assist GHEP’s marketing and communications activities through newsletters, email campaigns, social media, flyers, and community announcements.
-   Support development and maintenance of outreach databases, contact lists, and prospective partner leads.
-   Assist with collecting, organizing, and reporting program participation, outreach, and engagement data.
-   Support at least 12 community outreach or service activities during the service term.
-   Assist with establishing or strengthening relationships with at least 40 community organizations or prospective partners.
-   Support outreach efforts designed to engage at least 500 residents, families, or community stakeholders across GHEP programs.
-   Assist staff with producing at least 12 digital or email outreach campaigns and documenting engagement results.
-   Contribute to quarterly summaries of outreach activities, participation, lessons learned, and program reach.

_All functions and activities performed by the AmeriCorps Member are completed under the guidance, supervision, and direction of program and host site staff._

**Learning & Development Opportunities**

As an ACC Member, you will receive structured training and support throughout your service year, including: 

-   A two-week-long virtual orientation with the national cohort to kick off the service year.
-   A week-long, in-person national Winter Institute convening with your ACC cohort — travel, lodging, and a per diem stipend are fully covered.
-   Twice-monthly virtual training on skills for service, including project management, asset-based community development, grant writing, and serving vulnerable populations, plus self-paced curricula with opportunities to earn badges and credentials.
-   A structured community listening tour at the start of service to understand local needs, assets, and opportunities.
-   Dedicated 1:1 support from a Lead For America Program Coordinator and twice-monthly peer pod meetings for networking and professional development.
-   Access to a national network of ACC Members, alumni, and community partners.

## Requirements

-   Passion for community service and connecting your neighbors to the digital tools, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive.
-   Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-   Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
-   Interest in gaining experience in community development or digital inclusion.

**Eligibility:**

-   Be a **U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident**.
-   Hold a **high school diploma or GED equivalent.**
-   Be **18-24 years of age.**
-   Have not already served four (4) or more AmeriCorps State/National terms. 

**Timeline:**

We are currently recruiting Members to serve from **September 8th, 2026 - August 13th, 2027.** Members will serve full-time (approximately 40 hours per week), completing 1700 hours of service over the course of the term.
