Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dependable **Live-In Caregiver** to provide high-quality in-home care and companionship to an older adult in the Palm Springs, California area.

The ideal candidate will have **demonstrated experience caring for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease** and understand the importance of patience, consistency, safety, dignity, and compassionate communication when supporting someone experiencing memory loss or cognitive changes.

This is a live-in position with **two scheduled days off each week**. The caregiver will have a private living space within the home and designated off-duty time in accordance with the agreed-upon schedule and applicable California employment requirements.

Key Responsibilities

-   Provide compassionate, respectful, and attentive care to the client.
-   Provide supervision and support appropriate for an individual living with dementia.
-   Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility as needed.
-   Prepare meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
-   Provide medication reminders and support with established medication routines, within the caregiver's lawful scope of duties.
-   Assist with safe ambulation and transfers as appropriate.
-   Provide companionship and meaningful social engagement.
-   Encourage appropriate cognitive, recreational, and daily activities.
-   Maintain a calm, safe, and structured environment.
-   Monitor changes in behavior, mood, appetite, mobility, or overall condition and communicate concerns to the appropriate family member or supervisor.
-   Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, linen changes, and maintaining an organized living environment related to the client's care.
-   Accompany the client to appointments, activities, errands, or other outings when required.
-   Follow established care plans, routines, safety procedures, and family instructions.
-   Maintain confidentiality and respect the client's privacy and dignity at all times.
-   Communicate professionally and consistently with family members and other members of the care team.

## Requirements

Required Qualifications

-   **Minimum 2 years of professional caregiving experience preferred.**
-   **Previous hands-on experience caring for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease is required.**
-   Strong understanding of dementia-related behaviors, memory loss, confusion, and changes in cognition.
-   Demonstrated patience, compassion, and ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
-   Experience assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, mobility, meals, and companionship.
-   Ability to recognize and appropriately report changes in the client's condition or behavior.
-   Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-   Dependable, trustworthy, and able to maintain professional boundaries.
-   Ability to work independently while following an established care plan.
-   Ability to pass applicable background and reference checks.
-   Current CPR/First Aid certification required.

Schedule

-   **Live-in, full-time position**
-   **5 days on / 2 consecutive days off**
-   Specific working hours and required off-duty periods will be established in accordance with the client's care needs and applicable California law.
