## Description

Project Manager (Armed Violence Reduction)

The starting salary package for this position is £59,698.40 GBP / approx. $78,979  USD including all allowances.

About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in over 40 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

As Project Manager (Armed Violence Reduction), you will lead MAG’s Armed Violence Reduction work in Ukraine, helping to reduce the risks posed by weapons and ammunition in communities affected by conflict. You will play a key role in strengthening weapons and ammunition management systems, supporting safer communities and contributing to longer-term recovery and stability. Working closely with national authorities, international partners and donors, you will shape strategy, build effective partnerships and ensure programmes are delivered to a high standard. Reporting to the Country Director and a member of the Senior Management Team, you will influence decision-making and help guide MAG’s approach in a complex and rapidly evolving environment. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on programme management, from contextual analysis and programme development to delivery and reporting. You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders, representing MAG at national and regional level and helping to strengthen coordination across the sector. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys navigating complex challenges, building collaborative relationships and delivering meaningful impact. Through your work, you will help ensure that communities affected by conflict are better protected from the risks associated with small arms, light weapons and munitions.

About the Ukraine programme:

Since the Russian invasion of 24th February 2022, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missile, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG responded to the crisis in 2022, with further scale-up planned during 2026. The programme has a representation office in Kyiv, and operational offices in Mykolaiv (also covering accessible areas of Kherson) and Kharkiv.
