**Duties and Responsibilities:**

**Business Services**

-   Prepare monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients.
-   Prepare accurate and timely management reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cashflow reporting.
-   Analyse financial performance and identify key business trends, risks and opportunities.
-   Understand and accurately account for stock movements, gross margins, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and financing arrangements.
-   Investigate unusual variances and raise queries with clients where appropriate.
-   Prepare annual financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders with limited assistance.
-   Complete and independently self-review compliance work, including workpapers and reconciliations.
-   Prepare budgets and basic forecasts with assistance.
-   Maintain strong client relationships and communicate financial information in a clear and practical manner.
-   Prepare workpapers in a logical and clear manner.
-   Manage workflow and time budgets effectively to meet deadlines.
-   Use live recording of time on timesheet (entering time as you go) and understand how to achieve productivity targets

**Tax**

-   Prepare all forms of income tax returns.
-   Prepare GST returns and assist with GST-related queries.
-   Calculate tax obligations for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals with limited assistance.
-   Conduct tax research and apply relevant legislation to client situations.
-   Identify tax planning opportunities and escalate more complex matters to senior team members.
-   Understand the interaction between financial reporting outcomes and tax obligations.

## Requirements

Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in public practice accounting

-   Hands-on experience with New Zealand accounting and taxation
-   Experience preparing management accounts and annual financial statements.
-   Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including stock, margins, accruals and prepayments
-   Experience working with clients across various industries; experience with importing goods, inventory management, and goods-in-transit is preferred
-   Proficiency in Xero or other cloud-based accounting software
