# Analista Comercial

> Marathon Talent · Bogotá, Colombia · — · Posted 2026-07-11

**Workplace:** on_site

**Department:** Tensteel

## Description

Tensteel is a steel commodity intermediary that connects global suppliers with industrial buyers across Colombia and the region. The company operates as a commercial agent: commercial execution between mills and end clients, with transactions structured around international contracts, import logistics, and direct supplier relationships.

The Commercial Analyst is the engine behind Tensteel's expansion into new product categories. The role owns the full front-end of diversification: identifying markets, mapping competitive landscapes, understanding tariff conditions, and converting research into supplier leads ready for the CEO to close. This is a role built for someone who operates with high autonomy and figures things out independently.

Key Responsibilities

- Market Diversification: For each new commodity category assigned by the CEO, map the competitive landscape: key players, active importers in the region, import/export flows, and pricing benchmarks. Analyze tariff viability — applicable FTAs, grey areas, duty thresholds, preferred nation status, and value conditions that determine whether a category is commercially viable. Produce a clear go/no-go rationale per category that the CEO can act on. Use AI tools, trade databases, and public import data to accelerate research and extract actionable insights at scale.
- Supplier Development: Identify potential international suppliers per category and make first commercial contact — not a cold email, but a structured outreach that positions Tensteel as a serious local commercial partner. Validate supply conditions, product certifications, minimum volumes, pricing structures, and willingness to appoint a local representative. Build a qualified supplier shortlist with enough context for the CEO to advance directly to negotiation.
- Commercial Intelligence & Reporting: Produce periodic market briefs per active category: supplier landscape, reference prices, import volumes, competitive dynamics, and recommended entry points. Monitor trade news, geopolitical developments, antidumping actions, and tariff changes that affect commodity supply chains — and flag implications for Tensteel's diversification strategy before they become operational problems.
- CRM & KPI Tracking: Own the commercial pipeline tracker: supplier contacts, outreach status, category progress, and deal conditions — updated and actionable at all times. Define and report on KPIs that give the CEO real visibility into the diversification effort: categories analyzed, suppliers contacted, leads qualified, and time-to-first-contact per category.
- Tools & Technology Optimization: Identify, implement, and continuously improve the tools and systems that support the commercial operation — CRM setup, research platforms, AI workflows, and data tracking infrastructure. Ensure the tech stack translates activity into visibility and keeps the team operating at full efficiency.
- Cross-functional Support: Step in across commercial and operational tasks as the business requires — whether that means supporting an active deal, filling and information gap, or picking up a priority that sits outside the defined scope. In a lean structure, ownership is determined by what needs to get done.

## Requirements

- Experience: Minimum 2 years in commercial analysis, market intelligence, wholesale trade, or commodity-adjacent roles. Background in wholesale distribution, import/export operations, or trading companies is a strong plus.
- Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to work without a defined agenda, set your own research priorities, find answers without being directed, and produce structured outputs from ambiguous briefs. This is non-negotiable.
- AI fluency: Active user of AI tools for research and analysis. Understands prompting and knows how to extract signal from noise.
- English: Intermediate-advanced (written and spoken). Will communicate directly with international suppliers.
- CRM & data: Experience using or implementing CRM tools. Ability to track pipeline activity and translate it into KPIs.
- Education: Degree in Business, Economics, International Trade, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Location: Based in Bogotá. On-site, Monday–Friday.
