MATRIX is a national company providing camps, logistics and aviation management services to clients in the resource and service sectors.

In the Eskay region of Northwestern BC, we operate the Mclymont Laydown: a secure, high-traffic Heli-Port logistics hub used by multiple exploration companies for fuel storage, helicopter access, crew transfers, core logging, and freight movement.

We’re looking for a hands-on, safety-focused **Heli-Port Manager** for the 2026 summer season to oversee daily operations at this critical site. This is a boots-on-the-ground role for someone who enjoys being physically active, working independently, and creating order in dynamic field environments.

Staff accommodations and travel are fully covered, with a fly-in/fly-out rotation _of 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off._

**What You'll Be Doing**

Your job will be to ensure that all companies’ activity at the laydown is safe, efficient, and well-coordinated. You’ll play a key role in managing fuel, freight, logistics, and laydown operations on behalf of Matrix and our client.

**Key responsibilities:**

\-Monitor and manage fueling operations (diesel, jet fuel, gasoline)

-   Order fuel when supplies run low
-   Ensuring all helicopters refuel according to the safe operating procedures (no hot refueling)
-   Assist with fuel transfers (e.g., turtle packs), track consumption, and report usage
-   Preventing and cleaning any fuel spills

\-Receiving and unloading incoming freight and groceries delivered to the laydown

\-Ensure freight is sorted and stored in each company’s respective area

\-Coordinate and assist with slinging in freight to camp via helicopter

\-Receiving and loading backhauls from camp on trucks going south

\-Operate Zoom Boom telehandler and assist onsite groups/companies  as needed

\-Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard area

\-Daily walk around and inspection of the laydown.

\-Hazard identification and mitigation

\-Removal of garbage and FOD (foreign object debris)

\-Ensure companies are compliant with site safety standards in a respectful and diplomatic way

\-Greet and direct all arriving vehicles and personnel

\-Provide daily updates and reports to Matrix Operations management

You have strong situational awareness, mechanical aptitude, and a safety-first mindset. You work well independently, but also know how to collaborate respectfully with others in high traffic zones.

**Schedule & Location**

-   **Shift rotation**: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off
-   **Daily hours**: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
-   **Season**: May – October 2026 (exact dates TBC based on start date)
-   **Basecamp**: Private cabin accommodation at Truffle Camp (per diem allowance and self-serve meals until mid-late June. After late June an onsite Cook will provide meals)
-   **Travel arrangements:** Travel days are paid. Commercial flights are arranged and paid for by Matrix. Company vehicle provided for ground transportation in the Eskay region.

## Requirements

**Job Requirements:**

-   Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid work permit or visa).
-   Self-starter who can create order in an evolving environment
-   Comfortable navigating ambiguity and prioritizing with limited direction
-   Effective communicator, both written and verbal
-   A desire and willingness to work as a strong leader who is flexible to change
-   Self-motivated, and takes pride in the job at hand
-   Requires the ability to lead by example and show initiative
-   Must be dependable and responsible
-   Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
-   Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
-   Strong Mechanical aptitude would be an asset
-   Computer literacy and experience with MS Office

**Preferred Licensing & Certifications:**

-   First Aid Certification.
-   WHMIS Certification (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
-   Certified (or experienced) to operate a forklift
-   Certified (or experienced) to operate a telehandler
-   Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driver abstract
-   Previous experience working as a Manager efficiency and safety minded

## Benefits

**Salary Range:**

**$400 – $450/day**, depending on experience
