# Consultant Geriatrician | Coastal Regional Queensland

> Mediix · Brisbane, Australia · Full-time · Posted 2026-09-14

**Workplace:** on_site

**Department:** Geriatric Medicine

## Description

A well-established regional Queensland public health service is seeking a Consultant Geriatrician to join its Department of Internal Medicine's Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services.

You'll be based in a vibrant coastal city of around 70,000 residents, roughly four hours' drive north of Brisbane (or a short domestic flight), sitting on the southern edge of the Great Barrier Reef. Think unspoilt beaches, a warm subtropical climate year-round, and the amenities of a mature regional centre — without capital-city traffic or housing prices.

Off the ward, life here means reef days out to Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave Islands, turtle-watching at the world-famous Mon Repos rookery, family weekends at the beach, and access to some of Queensland's most productive fresh-produce country. It's a genuine sea-change destination with excellent schools, established medical infrastructure, and a warm, collegiate clinical community.

**Your opportunity**

Deliver high-quality expert clinical services in Geriatric Medicine as part of a supportive specialist team that values clinical excellence, teaching, and real work/life balance. Additional positions at other locations within the health service may also be filled through this recruitment process.

**Remuneration package — total value up to $564,548 p.a.**

- Base salary: **$223,136 – $282,912 p.a.** (FTE) or **$106.91 – $135.55 p.h.** (part-time)
- Employer superannuation up to **12.75%**
- Annual leave loading of **17.5%**
- Motor vehicle allowance
- Professional development allowance
- Generous salary sacrifice options
- Flexible rostering to support work/life balance

Regional Queensland offers a significantly lower cost of living than the capital cities, with affordable family housing in beachside and semi-rural settings.

**About you**

- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Geriatric Medicine, or eligibility for RACP fellowship / SIMG assessment pathway
- Current or eligible AHPRA specialist registration in Geriatric Medicine
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or eligibility for a suitable visa
- A collaborative approach and a genuine enthusiasm for regional practice
