**Workplace:** on_site

**Department:** Finance/ Ops

## Description

At Mons Royale, we believe action and adventure sports can be a force for good but most of the gear made for these sports is trashing the planet. That’s why we’re on a mission to shift riders from synthetics to natural fibres designing high-performance merino apparel that doesn’t mess up the places we love to play.

We have a newly created role for a Financial Controller to join our mission. Based in Wanaka, this role will lead the global finance function and help shape how we measure success.

This is both a senior and hands-on role, ideal for a technically strong finance leader who enjoys both detail and big-picture impact. You’ll ensure financial integrity across the business and provide insights that shape performance, profitability and growth.  Leading a highly capable team you will act as a true business partner, combining financial stewardship with commercial insight and environmental leadership.

In this role, you will deliver all the fundamentals of strong accounting practice. You will immerse yourself in the business to understand how our products move through long development cycles and global supply chains through to our riders. You'll play a key role in product pricing decisions, contributing to purchasing strategy and inventory management, and ensure cashflow and investment decisions support growth and innovation.  You will also help evolve how we track sustainability and impact metrics alongside traditional financial performance.

**What you’ll do:**

- Own the financial control environment, including the full accounting cycle, AP/AR, payroll, treasury and tax compliance.
- Lead the global finance and FP&A function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning and performance reporting.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting and clear, actionable insights to support profitable, sustainable growth.
- Partner with leaders across sales, marketing and product to support pricing, margin and investment decisions.
- Provide strong commercial insight across product costing and lifecycle profitability.
- Influence inventory strategy, balancing availability, cashflow, risk and environmental impact.
- Lead and deliver strategic projects that improve financial performance, scalability and decision-making.
- Develop performance reporting that looks beyond traditional finance, incorporating operational, product, and sustainability metrics, embedding impact thinking into financial frameworks and reporting.

## Requirements

**What you’ll bring:**

- A genuine connection to what we stand for, pushing boundaries to drive change in an industry dominated by plastics.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Management/leadership experience across financial control, FP&A, and commercial finance within retail, apparel, or consumer products.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape strategic, commercial, and values‑led decisions.
- A strong interest in sustainability, carbon measurement, and impact reporting with curiosity to expand how performance is measured and communicated.
- Confidence working across NZ and international operations.
- Hands-on leadership style suited to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial growth business.
