**About the Role**

An exciting opportunity has come up for a talented and motivated Senior Accountant to join our boutique law firm in Sydney CBD on a full-time basis. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the firm and contribute to the ongoing success of the practice. Working closely with the leadership team, you will gain exposure across all areas of finance, including trust accounting, payroll, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, treasury management, and legal practice performance reporting.

**Responsibilities**

**Financial & Trust Accounting**

-   Process and maintain Trust Accounting transactions and records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
-   Maintain both electronic and hard-copy trust accounting records.
-   Review, prepare and post journals, adjustments, and month-end closing entries.
-   Perform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and investigate discrepancies.

**Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable**

-   Manage and process Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable transactions.
-   Monitor cash flow and assist in maintaining accurate financial records.
-   Support debt collection activities, including follow-up and recovery processes.
-   Process client payments and assist with treasury management activities.

**Payroll & Employee Related Transactions**

-   Prepare, process and reconcile weekly payroll through Xero.
-   Manage employee reimbursements, leave entitlements, superannuation, and payroll adjustments.
-   Ensure payroll-related compliance obligations are met accurately and on time.

**Financial Reporting & Budgeting**

-   Assist in the preparation, monitoring and management of revenue and expense budgets.
-   Support forecasting activities and provide insights into business performance.
-   Prepare internal financial and management reports.
-   Assist with BAS, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax and annual statutory reporting requirements.

**Systems & Performance Reporting**

-   Maintain and support the accounting functions within the firm's Legal Practice Management and CRM systems.
-   Assist in the preparation of legal practice performance reporting for Partners and Lawyers.
-   Support the development and enhancement of reporting capabilities across the business.
-   Prepare monthly reporting packs and performance analysis.

**Your Experience**

-   Relevant accounting experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
-   Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processes.
-   Experience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
-   Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or similar platforms.
-   Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
-   Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
-   Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
