**Workplace:** remote

**Department:** Design & UX

## Description

**Title: Mid-Weight Product Designer**

**Location – Hybrid, or Remote in UK**

**About PetlabCo**
PetLabCo.® is the world leader in DTC pet supplements, with nine-figure revenue and ambitious plans for continued global expansion. We make science-backed supplements, health care and treats that millions of dog owners love, powered by a performance marketing engine spending at serious scale across paid social and beyond. Behind that engine we're building a brand that dog owners recognise and trust, which is what turns a strong first purchase into a long relationship. Our team is vibrant, fast moving and customer obsessed. High performers are valued here and they're rewarded, which makes this the ideal place for an ambitious, hardworking animal lover who wants to move their career forward quickly.

**About the role:**
We’re looking for a **Mid-Weight UX/UI Designer** to join our growing Design team and help us create digital experiences that don’t just look great – they perform. You’ll work across multiple areas of the PetLab Co. customer journey, from our organic e-commerce site and customer account portal through to cold acquisition funnels and landing pages.

You’ll join a highly collaborative design environment, working closely with two Senior Product Designers, our Lead Digital Designer, two Mid-Weight Creative Designers and our Design & UX Director. Rather than being restricted to one product or area, you’ll support the team wherever the biggest design opportunities and commercial priorities are.

A key measure of success will be **conversion**. We’re looking for someone who understands that great DTC design needs to balance customer needs, brand, usability and commercial performance. You should have a keen eye for what converts, be curious about why customers behave the way they do, and be comfortable using data and experimentation to improve your work.

No two weeks will necessarily look the same. One week you might be improving the UX of our organic e-commerce experience, the next designing a cold acquisition funnel, and the next helping evolve our account portal or supporting a high-priority commercial initiative.

So, if you…

- Love designing polished, intuitive digital experiences that drive measurable results
- Understand the nuances of designing for DTC and e-commerce customers
- Think about **conversion and customer behaviour**, not just aesthetics
- Enjoy moving between different products, journeys and commercial challenges
- Can take a problem from initial thinking and wireframes through to high-quality UI
- Enjoy collaborating with other designers while being comfortable owning your own work
- Have a positive, can-do attitude and aren’t afraid to roll your sleeves up when something needs to get done
- Thrive in a fast-moving environment where priorities and challenges can change

…then please keep reading, as you may be the perfect fit.

**Who Will You Report Into?**
You’ll sit within our Design team and work closely with our **Design & UX Director**, alongside our Lead Digital Designer, Senior Product Designers and Creative Designers. We’re building a design function that can support PetLab Co. across the entire digital customer experience. As the business continues to grow, so does the number and variety of customer journeys we need to create, optimise and improve.

That’s where you come in.

We need another strong pair of hands who can move comfortably between different areas of the customer experience and help the wider team tackle the opportunities with the greatest potential impact.

You’ll have experienced designers around you to collaborate with, challenge ideas and learn from, but you’ll also be expected to take ownership. We want someone who can receive a brief or problem, understand the customer and commercial objective behind it, explore solutions and turn those into thoughtful, high-quality experiences.

We care deeply about craft, but we’re equally interested in **what the work achieves**. You’ll work with your manager and the wider team to understand performance, learn from experiments and continuously improve our digital experiences.
Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who wants to become a better designer while helping us build experiences that make PetLab Co. a better-performing business.

**What’s the Ideal Candidate’s Background?**

You’re a mid-weight UX/UI or Product Designer with solid experience within a direct-to-consumer brand or similarly fast-moving e-commerce business. You understand how customers shop online and how changes to hierarchy, messaging and interactions can reduce friction and improve conversion.

You have strong visual and UI fundamentals and can take an experience from journey mapping, wireframes and prototypes through to polished interfaces, considering different user states along the way. You’re commercially curious, too. You want to understand what happens after launch, using customer behaviour, conversion data and experiment results to inform your next iteration.

You’re comfortable with shifting priorities and a varied remit. As the business grows, you’ll be willing to apply your skills where they can make the greatest difference.

## Requirements

- **DTC / E-commerce Experience** – You have hands-on experience designing digital experiences for a direct-to-consumer brand, e-commerce business or similarly conversion-focused environment.
- **Mid-Weight UX/UI Experience** – You’ve developed enough experience to independently take on design problems while still enjoying collaboration, feedback and learning from senior designers.
- **Conversion Mindset** – You understand that conversion is a critical measure of digital design performance and have experience designing or optimising customer journeys with commercial outcomes in mind.
- **Strong UX Fundamentals** – You can translate problems into journeys, flows, wireframes and prototypes before moving into execution.
- **Strong UI Craft** – You have a keen eye for hierarchy, typography, spacing, layout and interaction and can create polished experiences across desktop and mobile.
- **Figma Proficiency** – You’re highly comfortable designing and collaborating in Figma and understand components, libraries and scalable design systems.
- **Data Curious** – You’re comfortable looking beyond the design file to understand how customers behave and whether your work is performing.
- **Commercially Minded** – You understand that great customer experience and commercial performance aren’t opposing goals and actively look for solutions that deliver both.
- **Collaborative** – You enjoy working with other designers and cross-functional partners and can clearly explain the thinking behind your decisions.
- **Think Fast, Move Fast** – You’re energised by a high-velocity environment where priorities can change and there is always another interesting problem around the corner.
- **Can-Do Attitude** – You’re positive, pragmatic and happy to roll your sleeves up. When something needs doing, you focus on how we can make it happen.
- **Driven to Excellence** – You care deeply about the quality of your work while understanding when speed, iteration and learning are more valuable than chasing perfection.
- **Organised & Dependable** – You can manage multiple workstreams and priorities without losing sight of the details.
