## Description

### Who We Are

Political Asylum Lawyers is a Houston-based immigration law firm focused on asylum cases. We help immigrants all over the United States secure their future here through asylum, combining exceptional standards with deep respect for the human reality behind every case.

The people we represent have already survived the unimaginable. They come to us during the most vulnerable moment of their lives, and we treat that responsibility with the seriousness it deserves.

Our work changes lives. The standards we maintain, the discipline behind our work, and the way we show up every day can determine whether someone is able to build a safe and stable future in the United States. That is why we operate with integrity, urgency, and excellence, and why we expect every team member to take full ownership of their role.

**Working here means:**

- High-stakes responsibility: our work is of great consequence for our clients
- Deeply meaningful outcomes: we profoundly change our clients’ lives for the better
- Emotionally demanding moments: resilience and maturity are essential
- High standards and constant growth: excellence and continuous improvement are expected
- Mission-driven teamwork: we’re passionate about helping immigrants secure their future in the United States through asylum, and we know that meeting our high standards requires each of us to take ownership and support one another

**If you want a career where your skills create tangible change in the world, this is it.**

### **The Role**

You will be the primary point of contact for clients, engaging them daily in both English and Spanish and bringing outstanding communication skills and empathy to those relationships. This will mean sending emails and making phone calls daily to respond to client inquiries and to seek information and documents from them as we manage their cases.

You will keep case development on track by following established workflows and flagging anything that falls behind. You will proactively communicate with your teammates to let them know of any issues or difficulties you are facing in a case, so that we can keep things moving forward.

You will not need substantive knowledge of U.S. immigration law, but you must master our standard operating procedures for managing cases and working with clients.

Only apply if you genuinely believe you can contribute to this team and are fully committed to our mission.

You’ll need a quiet space, fast internet, and the discipline to stay on task without close supervision.

You must be flexible - the nature of your tasks may change daily or over time, with you stepping up to do whatever is needed to give potential clients and clients the best experience possible. Policies and procedures will change frequently, as we’re a fast-growing company, and we’re constantly experimenting to optimize our delivery of services.

You must speak Spanish and English fluently and be comfortable using both languages professionally - you’ll use both languages every day on the job.

You must be detail-oriented and able to work under pressure, meeting deadlines and producing top-notch work. The work is at times intense: we handle important - in some cases, life-or-death - matters for clients, sometimes on compressed timelines, and we’re serious about promoting a culture of excellence in all that we do.

If you can handle that and want to do work that genuinely matters, you'll find this job to be deeply satisfying. Our work changes lives. Our team takes real pride in helping immigrants find safety, stability, and freedom.

Working here also means building skills that will serve you throughout your career, as we prioritize training and professional development.
