**The role**

Our Associate Medical Writers work closely with senior members of the scientific team to develop high-quality medical communications materials across a range of formats, including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, slide decks, and presentations. With guidance and mentoring, the role focuses on producing scientifically accurate, well-written content that meets client objectives, internal quality standards, and industry compliance requirements. This position offers hands on exposure to medical communications writing while building strong foundations in scientific storytelling, accuracy, and editorial best practice.

Alongside writing, they support project delivery by managing their own tasks and deadlines, contributing to research across therapeutic areas, and incorporating review feedback effectively. They develop knowledge of disease areas, competitors, and emerging data, as well as accurately track time against project budgets.

This role is ideal for someone at the early stage of their medical writing career. It suits a detail-oriented, curious individual with strong written communication skills and an interest in developing expertise within a fast-paced medical communications agency environment.

**Responsibilities**

**Writing**

-   Contributing to the preparation of a range of high-quality scientific content for medical communications projects, with support from senior team members. 

-   Supporting project delivery to meet client objectives, timelines, and compliance standards, escalating issues as per SOP 
-   Adhering to journal, congress, and/or client preferences regarding writing styles, wording, etc. keeping core team informed of any changes

-   Conducting research and synthesizing relevant information for on-target content creation 
-   Interpreting and incorporating internal and external review comments, ensuring consistency, scientific accuracy, and industry compliance 
-   Adapting content and style for target audiences as appropriate 

**Project Management**

-   Managing assigned projects to ensure delivery to deadline while being mindful of allocated hours
-   Ensuring all relevant information is shared with both scientific and client services team members in a timely manner

**Research Skills**

-   Maintaining awareness of therapeutic areas, competitors, new products and new indications for relevant accounts
-   Researching complex therapy areas and filtering key information across the team
-   Performing fact checks, flagging inconsistencies or compliance issues as needed
-   Escalating unclear issues or matters requiring final approval to senior team as defined by SOP

**Financial Management**

-   Recording and monitoring actual vs budgeted time on own projects
-   Completing timesheets accurately and submitting on time to line manager, relevant client services lead(s) and finance department each week
-   Understanding budgeted hours and scope for each task before beginning work and proactively highlighting any discrepancies

**General Responsibilities**

-   Maintaining a good working knowledge of the computer software required, e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Adobe
-   Keeping abreast of industry self-regulation and compliance guidelines as well as client SOPs and maintaining good working practices at all times

-   Developing skills and knowledge through feedback and collaboration 
-   Supporting team goals and client satisfaction in a collaborative environment 

-   Building professional relationships within the team and, where appropriate, with external stakeholders

## Requirements

-   **Ideal candidate will have:**

-   A life sciences degree, ideally combined with a science master’s or PhD
-   Strong and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
-   Good knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and processes
-   Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
-   Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced agency environment
-   Ability and desire to learn new therapy areas and disease states as required
-   Proactive approach to sharing updates, status, ideas and feedback with internal and external stakeholders
-   Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel, Teams, Outlook) and Adobe
