## Description

At Relectrify, we're on a mission to engineer the future of battery energy storage. We are building a disruptive platform that dramatically reduces the cost of storage by unlocking significantly more energy from every battery cell.  We want to see a world abundant with clean energy and believe we will make a meaningful contribution.

Our core values fuel and motivate our work:

1. Prioritise what matters most: We strive to work with clear objectives and understand why they are the right goals to pursue.
2. Think critically: We base our decisions on informed, open-minded evaluations, not on hierarchy or gut feelings.
3. Be decisive: We prioritise action and continuously move forward, adapting as new data becomes available.
4. Quality and elegance in everything: We put in the effort to distil complexity and make things as clear and impactful as possible.
5. Collaborate or fail: We seek to work with those who excel and recognise that partnerships are essential to our success.
6. Get jobs done: We focus on the core task – the job to be done – and we aren’t content until we’ve achieved the desired outcome.

We embrace diverse experiences to fuel our collective success, ensuring everyone can do their best work.

If you are looking to make a positive impact in the world of renewable energy by advancing battery technology, come join us.

## Requirements

### What you'll be doing

We're standing up a brand new AI Compute branch of the CellSwitch™ Power platform, and we're looking for a Director of Power Electronics to lead it. This is a rare opportunity to take cutting-edge R&D and shape it into commercially relevant power electronics for AI data centre energy infrastructure, then build the team and roadmap to deliver it.

You'll own the technical strategy, architecture and development roadmap for high-efficiency, high-reliability power electronics in this space. You'll move ideas from concept through prototype, validation and customer demonstration, and on to our productisation teams, while reading where the market is heading and feeding that insight back into our platform and business strategy.

### Team background

Reporting to Tony Rocco, Director of Innovation, you'll establish and lead a new power electronics team, and work closely with:

- Our Chief Technology Officer
- Engineering and R&D teams
- Business development and commercial teams
- External customers and partners across AI data centres
- Patent counsel

### Who we're looking for

We're seeking an experienced power electronics leader who thrives in a high-growth, technically novel environment. You're as comfortable making deep architecture decisions as you are mentoring a team, shaping a roadmap, and engaging customers. You bring expert depth in resonant power conversion, and a genuine systems view across batteries, conversion, control, safety and reliability. Above all, you can turn early-stage technology into something real, demonstrable and commercially valuable.

### What you'll do day to day

**Lead the technical direction**

- Own power electronics architecture and design decisions across CellSwitch™ applications for AI data centres, including conversion topology, operational dynamics, protection and control interfaces
- Provide expert technical leadership in resonant power conversion, control, thermal management, EMI/EMC, insulation, fault management, safety and reliability

**Drive the engineering**

- Prioritise, schedule and drive activities through TRL stage gates, keeping the team focused on the highest-value technical and commercial outcomes
- Guide hands-on design, simulation, prototyping, testing, debugging and performance evaluation of systems, subsystems and critical components

**Connect technology to the market**

- Work with internal and external stakeholders to turn market opportunities and customer needs into clear technical requirements and product direction
- Identify and manage technical risks across safety, reliability, manufacturability, schedule, cost, standards compliance and performance

**Run a capable R&D environment**

- Oversee R&D facility operations as needed to service AI compute development, including lab capability, equipment readiness, safe test practices, maintenance and future orientation

### What you'll build over time

- Own and evolve Relectrify's technical roadmap for AI compute markets, aligned with our broader technology and commercial strategy
- Continuously read market shifts in AI compute power infrastructure and translate them into roadmap priorities and business strategy recommendations
- Recruit, develop and retain the team, establishing effective engineering practices, design reviews, test discipline and a clear decision-making cadence
- Establish scalable R&D facility operations and lab practices that support safe, efficient and repeatable development, validation and demonstration
- Contribute to our intellectual property portfolio through invention disclosures and strategic patent recommendations
- Support customer, partner and investor engagement with credible technical summaries, presentations, demonstrations and due diligence responses
- Create a clear path from R&D outcomes to productisation, covering manufacturability, supplier engagement, qualification planning and handover to downstream teams

### What success looks like

- An AI compute power electronics roadmap is established and actively maintained for the CellSwitch™ platform
- Priority prototypes and technical demonstrations are delivered through agreed R&D stage gates
- A capable power electronics team is built, with clear plans, roles, review cadence and technical ownership
- Future customer needs and market requirements are identified and built into the roadmap and business strategy
- R&D facility operations support safe, efficient and reliable development, test and demonstration
- Technical risks are surfaced early, communicated clearly and reduced through structured design, test and validation
- You contribute meaningfully to customer, partner and investor engagement for the new branch

### About you

**Essential**

- Masters or PhD in electrical/electronic engineering, power electronics or a closely related discipline
- 10+ years' industry experience in power electronics, including significant ownership of complex converter, inverter, battery storage or grid-connected power systems
- A track record of building, leading and growing engineering teams in a high-growth or technically novel environment
- Expert knowledge of resonant power electronics design: topology selection, modelling, magnetics design, control, protection, thermal design, insulation coordination and EMI/EMC management
- Experience taking technology from R&D or advanced engineering through prototype, validation, customer demonstration and productisation
- Experience identifying future customer needs and translating market insight into technical roadmap and business strategy recommendations
- Experience overseeing laboratory, test or R&D facility operations, including equipment readiness, safety, scheduling and capability development
- Strong systems thinking across batteries, power conversion, controls, communications, safety, reliability and manufacturability
- Demonstrated contribution to technology strategy, business planning, customer engagement and/or fundraising due diligence
- Experience contributing to or managing patent portfolios and invention disclosure processes

**Desirable**

- Experience with data centre, UPS, grid-interactive, energy storage or high-availability power infrastructure applications
- Familiarity with relevant standards and certification pathways for power electronics, energy storage and critical power systems
