# Technical Case Manager -Transportation and Collision Investigation

> Rimkus · Chorley, United Kingdom (Hybrid) · Full-time · Posted 2026-11-06

**Workplace:** hybrid

**Department:** Forensics

## Description

We are looking for a Technical Case Manager to join Rimkus’s growing collision investigation team across the UK and the EMEA region. You will run our cases from the moment an enquiry arrives to the day the final report is issued, so that our experts can focus on the technical work our clients instruct us for.

This is a client-facing role with two strands: case management and client relationship management. You will be the first point of contact for many of our clients, the person who keeps every case on track, and a key contributor to how the team presents itself to the legal and insurance market.

**Opportunity:**

Rimkus is a global forensic engineering and expert consulting firm, and our UK Transportation & forensic collision investigation practice is growing fast. We have built a strong book of business and are now growing our collision investigation team to be ready for the future, bringing together cutting-edge technologies with traditional engineering and human factors approaches to provide comprehensive support to our clients. The majority of our clients are in the legal and/or insurance sectors.

You will join a wider multidisciplinary team with extensive expert witness and research experience. Our experts give evidence in the civil and criminal courts, publish in their fields, and are leaders in their field. Our growing team means you will help design how the practice manages its cases and its clients, and as the team expands, there will be opportunities to grow the role.

_**Your role in the team**_

The role is already well established within the wider Rimkus business. Our Business Support team comprise qualified administrative professionals, where colleagues in equivalent roles support our expert teams every day. In the UK, you will work across three areas:

·       **Case management**: running each case from enquiry to issue, so deadlines, budgets and evidence are never at risk.

·       **Client relationship management**: acting as a consistent, professional point of contact for solicitors, insurers and fleet operators. You will also help our team build its profile through content, events and client communications.

You do not need to be a forensic investigator. You will, however, build a working knowledge of the evidence our experts rely on, such as vehicle event data, CCTV and dashcam footage, scene surveys and vehicle examinations, so that you can understand what each case needs and spot what is missing.

You will work closely with our three Transportation Directors, and with colleagues across Rimkus’s wider engineering and scientific disciplines, including human factors, biomechanics and injury causation, and toxicology. That gives you a clear view of where other Rimkus experts can help our clients.

_**Key responsibilities**_

_**Enquiries and new instructions**_

·       Review incoming enquiries to confirm we have enough detail to accept the instruction, and request further information from clients where needed.

·       Confirm the team has the right capability and agree with the Director about which expert will lead the case.

·       Obtain the details needed for conflict checks and coordinate those checks with our Business Support team.

·       Liaise with clients to obtain the material needed for us to progress, and with experts to determine the scope, turnaround times, and fees.

·       Prepare appointment letters, issue terms and conditions, and set the agreed budget for each case.

_**Live case management**_

·       Case management including the management of deadlines, budgets, and court directions.

·       Work with Consultants to ensure case files are prepared and ready to be reviewed ahead of deadlines.

·       Arrange site visits and vehicle examinations for our Expert teams.

·       Manage deadlines, client correspondence, requests for further documents, and dates for case conferences, joint expert discussions, and Court appearances.

_**Client relationships and marketing**_

·       Build strong working relationships with solicitors, insurers, claims handlers and fleet clients, and keep client records up to date.

·       Ensure the correct experts are identified to support a client's needs and connect our clients with the right experts.

·       Support the team’s marketing plan by working with our Marketing team to co-ordinate events and engagements which will be of interest to our clients.

## Requirements

_**Essential**_

·       Experience of case, matter or project management in a legal, insurance, claims, expert witness or other professional services environment.

·       An understanding of how litigation &/or the insurance industry works, including the importance of court deadlines and directions.

·       Excellent organisation, with the ability to manage many cases and deadlines at once without losing attention to detail.

·       Confident, professional communication with clients, both in writing and by phone.

·       Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management, CRM or practice management systems.

·       Discretion in handling highly confidential and sensitive case material, and a working knowledge of data protection.

_**Desirable**_

·       Experience with road traffic collision investigation, legal proceedings, personal injury, or motor insurance claims.

·       Familiarity with CPR Part 35 and the role of expert witnesses in civil and criminal proceedings.

·       Marketing or business development experience, including social media, content writing, events or CRM campaigns.

·       A degree or qualification in a related field, such as law, forensic science, engineering or business.

·       Experience of working within an ISO accredited environment.

·       Full UK driving licence.

_**Not a perfect match? Apply anyway.**_

The best case managers do not all follow the same route, and we would rather meet an exceptional candidate than a complete checklist. If you do not meet every requirement above but stand out as a top performer in your current role, we want to hear from you. You might be a paralegal or legal assistant, a claims handler, a project coordinator, or a forensic science graduate who wants a career at the centre of complex cases.

Where a strong candidate has gaps in experience or knowledge, we will discuss a tailored development plan. We have the opportunity to design a collision investigation service for the future so are not reliant on adopting the same old ways, simply for the sake of it.
