We are seeking an experienced, student-centered Contracted ESOL Teacher to join our Flight Crew as soon as possible for the 2026 - 2027 school year.

**About the Role**

The ESOL Teacher provides specialized English language instruction and academic support to identified English Learners in grades K - 5.

The teacher will provide direct services, monitor student language development and academic progress, collaborate with classroom teachers, maintain required ESOL documentation, support required assessments, and help ensure multilingual learners have meaningful access to grade-level instruction.

The ideal candidate understands language acquisition, values students' linguistic and cultural identities, and can provide targeted support while collaborating effectively with teachers, families, and the Student Support Team.

This is a contracted position and is not eligible for Sankofa Montessori employee benefits.

**What You'll Do**

-   Provide direct ESOL instruction to identified English Learners.
-   Deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
-   Differentiate instruction based on students' English language proficiency, academic needs, grade level, and individual strengths.
-   Provide services through appropriate instructional models, including small-group, push-in, pull-out, and collaborative instruction, based on student needs and the school's service model.
-   Develop engaging lessons that integrate English language development with grade-level academic content.
-   Support students' access to Sankofa's standards-aligned curriculum.
-   Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify appropriate scaffolds, accommodations, instructional strategies, and language supports.
-   Support teachers in understanding how language proficiency may affect students' classroom performance and access to academic content.
-   Regularly assess and monitor students' English language development and academic progress.
-   Use assessment and classroom data to adjust instruction and determine appropriate supports.
-   Administer and support required English language proficiency assessments, including WIDA Screener and ACCESS for ELLs, as applicable.
-   Maintain accurate and timely ESOL records, service documentation, assessment information, and required student records.
-   Ensure identified English Learners receive appropriate services and required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
-   Participate in student support, MTSS, special education, and other meetings when language acquisition is relevant to a student's needs.
-   Collaborate with the Student Support Team to help distinguish language acquisition needs from potential academic, behavioral, or disability-related concerns.
-   Communicate with families regarding students' language development, academic progress, strengths, and areas for continued growth.
-   Promote an inclusive learning environment that honors students' home languages, cultures, identities, and experiences.
-   Demonstrate Sankofa Montessori's core values of Love, Joy, Ownership, Purpose, and Reflection.

The existing position similarly emphasizes differentiated curriculum, individualized instruction, progress monitoring, and collaboration with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other stakeholders.

**What Teaching Looks Like at Sankofa**

At Sankofa, supporting English Learners is a shared responsibility.

Our ESOL Teacher will:

-   Provide intentional and targeted English language-development instruction.
-   Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and the Student Support Team.
-   Use student data to determine student needs and evaluate whether supports are working.
-   Help classroom teachers strengthen their ability to serve multilingual learners throughout the school day.
-   Have access to relevant curriculum, instructional resources, technology, and materials.
-   Work within a school community that recognizes students' languages, cultures, identities, and experiences as assets.

We are looking for a contractor who can work independently while also becoming a collaborative and dependable member of our Flight Crew.

## Requirements

-   Bachelor's degree.
-   Valid or eligible Georgia teacher certification.
-   ESOL Endorsement or appropriate ESOL certification, or current enrollment in an ESOL endorsement program.
-   Knowledge of English language acquisition and effective instructional practices for multilingual learners.
-   Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, curriculum development, and Georgia academic standards.
-   Ability to use assessment and progress-monitoring data to guide instruction.
-   Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-   Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
-   Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, families, school leaders, and Student Support staff.
-   Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
-   Successful completion of required background checks.

**Preferred Qualifications**

-   Two or more years of experience teaching English Learners.
-   Experience working with elementary-aged multilingual learners.
-   Experience with WIDA standards, WIDA Screener, and ACCESS for ELLs.
-   Experience providing push-in and pull-out ESOL services.
-   Experience collaborating with general education and special education teachers.
-   Familiarity with Montessori education or willingness to learn about Sankofa's Montessori approach.

## Benefits

**Contract & Compensation**

This is a contracted position and is not eligible for Sankofa Montessori employee benefits.

Compensation will be determined based on the scope of services, experience, qualifications, and agreed-upon contract terms.

The selected contractor must:

-   Provide services on-site at Sankofa Montessori in Forest Park, Georgia.
-   Be available to begin ASAP.
-   Maintain a consistent service schedule aligned with student needs and school expectations.
-   Complete required service documentation and other responsibilities within established timelines.

Specific weekly hours, service schedule, compensation, and other contract terms will be established prior to the start of services.
