## Description

SciTec, a wholly owned subsidiary of Firefly Aerospace, is a dynamic non-traditional defense contractor that delivers advanced technologies in support of U.S. National Security and Defense. For the past forty-five plus years, we have supported Department of Defense customers by developing innovative remote sensing algorithms, tools, and techniques to deliver world-class data exploitation capabilities supporting missile defense; intelligence, surveillance, & reconnaissance; space domain awareness; and aircraft survivability missions.

**Important Notice:** SciTec exclusively works on U.S. government contracts that require U.S. citizenship for all employees. SciTec cannot sponsor or assume sponsorship of employee work visas of any type. Further, U.S. citizenship is a requirement to obtain and keep a security clearance. Applicants that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

SciTec is seeking a Systems Engineer with a specialization in human factors and software user experience to support the Ground‑Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) modernization program. This role centers on the systems engineering of operator‑facing interfaces—ensuring mission users can clearly understand radar system state, data flow, alerts, and operational context. You will translate mission and stakeholder needs into system requirements, define UI workflows, manage interface specifications, and guide integration of display components into the modernized architecture.

You will collaborate with radar‑processing teams, MBSE modelers, UI/UX designers, backend developers, mission operators, and government stakeholders to deliver clear, actionable, intuitive user displays.

**Responsibilities**

- Develop and communicate mission human factors requirements:

- Capture and refine stakeholder needs from end users, subject matter experts, and mission stakeholders.
- Develop system‑level and subsystem‑level requirements for user interfaces, visualizations, alerting behavior, data‑flow awareness, and operator workflows.
- Define operational user interface concepts, display behaviors, and functional flows that align with mission use cases and radar system behavior.

- Develop architectures and system-to-system interfaces for user-facing components:

- Define data flows needed between operator-facing interfaces and system hardware and software components
- Ensure alignment of operator workstation designs with site space and power requirements
- Ensure user interfaces meet mission‑assurance, cybersecurity, accessibility, and reliability standards applicable to DoW environments.

- Support the creation of a digital engineering baseline:

- Use SysML to develop key engineering artifacts (use‑case diagrams, behavioral diagrams, architectural models) for user interface systems.

- Maintain traceability throughout the design, from stakeholder needs to system requirements to design elements.
- Maintain configuration control of display‑system requirements, diagrams, and ICDs.

- Support program integration, verification, and test activities:

- Participate in system integration testing, mission‑scenario validation, and user‑workflow assessments.
- Evaluate display responsiveness, clarity, and operator usability during integration events.
- Support program requirements verification activities.

- Collaborate across functional design teams:

- Coordinate with radar and signal processing engineers, system architects, UI/UX designers, backend developers, operators, and IV&T teams to ensure cohesive system behavior.

## Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Human‑Systems Integration, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering for complex software systems, sensor/mission systems, or operator‑facing interfaces.
- Experience writing and managing system and interface requirements for user interfaces or mission displays.
- Familiarity with radar systems, real‑time data flows, alerting systems, or high‑bandwidth operational environments.
- Experience with MBSE practices, SysML, or model‑based requirement traceability.
- Ability to collaborate with UI/UX designers and software teams to translate mission needs into display functionality.
- Understanding of operator workflows, human‑factors considerations, and mission‑focused interface design.
- Strong communication skills for cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (active preferred).

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred:

- Active DoD security clearances.
- Prior experience with operator interfaces for radar systems, air and missile defense systems, or space domain systems
- Experience with developing components in a system with an open systems architecture (e.g. Modular Open Systems Approach)
- Experience supporting system integration events or mission‑scenario verification.
- Experience modeling user workflows or UI architectures within a SysML or MBSE environment, particularly using the Cameo suite of tools.
- Background in human‑systems integration, usability evaluation, or cognitive workflow analysis.
