## Description

### The Second Nature Story

### The Challenge

Obesity has become a global epidemic; in the UK, we spend £9 billion a year alone on diseases like type 2 diabetes (that's 10% of the NHS budget). What's shocking is most of this is preventable - through sustained lifestyle and habit change.

**Enter Second Nature.**

We're here to help people take control of their health. By bringing together behavioural science, technology, and incredible people, our grand mission is to eradicate the global epidemic of chronic lifestyle diseases once and for all.

### About Us

- We've positively changed the lives of 300,000+ people through accessible, evidence-based healthcare.
- We're rated 'Excellent' on [Trustpilot](https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/secondnature.io) by over 8,000 of our members.
- We're the UK’s largest digital health provider to the NHS
- We're a leading B2C provider of GLP-1 medication-assisted weight loss programmes, and 1 of 5 NICE-approved providers to deliver these services within the NHS in the future
- Our team members stay with us for an average of 4.3 years

### The Role

We're bringing more of our prescribing in-house. This role is about doing that well for our private and Medication Supported Programme (MSP) clients - the more straightforward end of our caseload, where Second Nature is the responsible prescribing organisation.

You'll run remote prescribing reviews for private clients on our weight management programme: assessing suitability, prescribing within a defined formulary, and monitoring people safely through their journey. It's focused clinical work with a clear pathway, good support around you, and a weekly MDT to bring cases and questions to.

### What You'll Do

- Carry out remote prescribing reviews and consultations (video, telephone and asynchronous) for private/MSP clients, assessing eligibility and suitability against the medicine's licence and our criteria.
- Confirm identity and weight verification is complete and accurate before prescribing, and cross-check medication history against the Summary Care Record or GP record where available.
- Lead shared decision-making - set out benefits, risks and alternatives, confirm capacity and consent (including consent to notify the GP), and document it fully in the clinical record.
- Prescribe within your licence and competence and within the agreed formulary (Wegovy, Mounjaro, Saxenda, Orlistat), following GMC good and remote prescribing standards and the RPS Prescribing Competency Framework.
- Manage the prescribing journey through to dispensing, GP notification, follow-up and titration, repeats, monitoring and discharge - tracking each step in our clinical system so nothing is missed.
- Handle side effects, adherence and dosage queries, and recognise when something needs more than a straightforward review - escalating promptly to the Clinicial Lead where necessary.
- Bring complex or interesting cases, protocol questions and improvement ideas to the monthly MDT, and act on what's agreed.
- Keep accurate, contemporaneous clinical records, and contribute to prescribing audits, incident reporting and duty of candour where required.

## Requirements

### Who You Are

**Need to Haves**

- A current, unrestricted UK prescribing registration: a GMC-registered doctor or a GPhC-registered pharmacist or NMC-registered nurse holding an independent prescriber qualification.
- Confident, safe remote prescriber, working comfortably within GMC good and remote prescribing standards and the RPS competency framework.
- Experience in assessing patients for and prescribing GLP-1 therapies and other weight management medications.
- Sound clinical judgement about your own scope - prescribe within your competence and escalate early when in doubt.
- Clear, careful clinical documentation and strong follow-through on the operational steps that keep a client's journey safe.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working digital-first, across the systems that run the pathway.

**Nice to Haves**

- Experience in diabetes or metabolic health.
- Experience prescribing in a private or digital health setting.

### Role-Specific Notes

- Remote, UK-based. You must be UK-based and hold current UK professional registration and revalidation.
- Scope is private / MSP in-house prescribing only. This role does not cover NHS Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS) prescribing, Right to Choose, or BSOP / prescribing-partner arrangements.
- 20-40 hours per week, split evenly across 5 days and the ability to undertake weekend work, if required.
- Initial fixed term contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent contract based on performance.
