## Requirements

### Make an Impact

As a Platform & Cloud Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of infrastructure excellence and developer productivity. You will play a direct role in shaping our engineering culture by implementing and managing cloud-based platforms that empower hundreds of developers to build and ship software reliably.

You aren't just managing servers; you are building the self-service components that significantly reduce cognitive load across our development teams. You are a proactive collaborator, comfortable scoping initiatives independently while working with team members to solve complex problems with security and cost-efficiency at the forefront.

### What you will be doing

**Cloud & Infrastructure Excellence**

-   **Deploy & Monitor:** Provision, monitor, and manage Serko’s cloud infrastructure (Azure & GCP) to ensure it scales effectively for global web traffic.
-   **Infrastructure as Code (IaC):** Use tools like Pulumi to automate provisioning, logging, and observability.
-   **Reliability & Resilience:** Contribute to engineering-wide Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and respond to incidents for the components your team supports.
-   **Optimisation:** Implement cost-efficient cloud solutions and modernise legacy infrastructure when appropriate.

**CI/CD & Platform Engineering**

-   **Elevate Developer Experience (DX):** Develop and own the platform orchestrator, enabling self-service capabilities that allow product teams to deliver faster.
-   **Strengthen CI/CD:** Manage our GitHub Enterprise environment, improving organisation-wide CI capabilities through GitHub Actions, Runners, and repository automation.
-   **Drive Modern Practices:** Promote system automation and productivity by embracing modern software development patterns, including the use of AI-enabled tools.
-   **Data-Driven Improvement:** Utilise performance dashboards (New Relic, Sumo Logic) to proactively enhance system reliability and predictability.

### What you'll bring

-   **Technical Proficiency:** A strong grasp of our technology stack: **Azure and/or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Enterprise.**
-   **Cloud Architecture Savvy:** Understands core cloud architecture concepts and can identify common implementation challenges and trade-offs.
-   **App Dev & Collaboration:** Understands application development and collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams to understand and support their needs.
-   **Coding & Scripting:** Proficiency in the languages our teams use, typically **Python, C#, TypeScript, or Bash.**
-   **Modern Mindset & Best Practices:** A commitment to **following industry best practices** to build solutions that prioritise simplicity, security, and long-term maintainability.
-   **Collaborative Spirit:** High emotional intelligence with a "team-first" approach. You are open to giving and receiving feedback in a safe, inclusive environment.
-   **Execution Focus:** The ability to plan and execute tasks effectively, balancing speed with high-quality, production-ready code.
