## Description

### About Us

SlashData empowers product, platform and engineering leaders with best-in-class research on developers and the future of software in the AI era. We have done so for over 20 years. We survey more than 20,000 developers a year for research projects for the likes of Microsoft, Google, Meta and Amazon. Alongside that client work, SlashData maintains its own premium software developer panel under the Developer Nation brand. The role of Growth Marketer and Community Builder is critical for SlashData’s vision, which is to become the industry reference of the software development economy.

We want SlashData to be the place where you do your best work ever. That means work with real meaning and impact, a genuine say in where the company goes next, and colleagues who challenge you candidly, help you grow and have your back. It's a place where it's safe to take risks, ask for help and say what you really think, and where your work is noticed and appreciated.

### About You

You're a growth marketer who loves building audiences and communities with a bold desire to experiment and improve, and you get a kick out of testing ideas and seeing the numbers move. Here, you'll lead the growth of SlashData’s Developer Nation panel. Our ambition is to grow it five-fold by the end of 2027 and make it the go-to premium panel for software developers.

About three-quarters of your time will go on bringing new developers into the panel. The rest will go on keeping them engaged, so they stay active and keep taking part.

It is a mix of strategy and hands-on work. You'll be out in developer communities and professional networks, starting conversations with people you have not met yet, as a visible face of Developer Nation. If building a network and being part of the community sounds like fun rather than a chore, if you’re a motivated communicator, you'll enjoy this role! You would need some experience doing this before; we’re thinking this role would suit someone with four to five years of experience in growth or performance marketing, and a track record of working to empirical goals and meeting KPIs.

### About our Panellists

Our Developer Nation panellists are LinkedIn- and GitHub-verified, and held to the highest quality standards. It is the quality of their answers that our clients pay for. Part of the challenge, and a big part of what makes the role interesting, is finding channels that bring in real, verified developers at scale.

### How you’ll work

You'll have a lot of freedom. You decide which channels to try, how campaigns look and how they run, within the agreed budget and data protection standards. You'll be responsible for improving the unit economics of acquisition and then running your own budget, putting forward where the money should go and why. You are responsible for improving the unit economics of acquisition and then running your own budget.

We value openness. Sharing what didn't work is as useful to us as sharing what did, and we'd always rather hear early if something isn't landing.

### What you’ll do (key responsibilities)

**Strategy and channels**

- Shape and lead the panel acquisition strategy, including the budget development.
- Find the audiences and communities that fit our survey topics.
- Search for and evaluate channels where potential panellists can be recruited: online communities, forums, social media groups, professional networks and paid media.
- Minimise acquisition cost per verified panellist while growing the panel.

**Campaigns and outreach**

- Plan, launch and optimise paid and organic acquisition campaigns.
- Conduct outreach to invite suitable individuals to join our survey panel.
- Run structured experiments and move on quickly from the ones that do not work.
- Launch calls to existing panellists to answer surveys and answer queries from panellists that may arise.
- Use AI tools to assist and automate wherever possible.

**Onboarding and panel quality**

- Support the onboarding of new panellists and maintain accurate participant records.
- Protect the verification standard. Volume that fails LinkedIn and GitHub verification does not count.
- Challenge and improve our existing processes wherever possible.

**Measurement**

- Track and report the performance of your own campaigns end to end.
- Monitor recruitment results and identify which acquisition channels earn more budget.

## Requirements

### What you’ll bring

- Four to five years of relevant experience in growth/performance marketing.
- You have owned a CPA or CAC target end to end, and can show knowledge of that process: how the target was set, what you did when it moved, and how you decided to keep spending or stop.
- Analytical skills strong enough to run your own measurement: attribution, funnel and cohort analysis, channel-level unit economics, and honest reporting of what did not work.
- Strong written communication skills in English.
- Based in Europe (any country).
- Comfortable initiating contact with people you do not know, in public developer communities, under the SlashData and/or Developer Nation brand name.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple campaigns and follow structured processes.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets and online tools for tracking tasks and participants.
- Experience engaging with online communities or professional groups.
- Use of advanced AI tooling, e.g. Claude Code or similar

### Nice to have

- Experience scaling a community.
- Experience in participant recruitment, panel management, or survey or market research.
- Familiarity with tools like Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn and HeyReach, and with metrics like CAC, LTV, payback period and UTM tracking. (A separate team supports tooling set-up.)

### Three & Six-month Success

Within the **first three months**, you will be expected to have demonstrated the following:

- Proactive reporting
- Analysis of successful versus unsuccessful campaigns, with the reasoning for each decision.
- 800 new developers onboarded into the panel. (Acquisition)
- Good selection of suitable panel candidates, evidenced by the share of new panellists passing LinkedIn and GitHub verification and completing their profile.
- Working independently and managing your own time well.

Within the **first six months**, the successful candidate will be expected to have demonstrated the following:

- A clear acquisition strategy, with documented evidence behind it.
- Around 2,500 new developers onboarded into the panel.
- At least half of new panellists come back to take part again, and more than a quarter of the panel are active at any one time.
- A clear picture of cost per verified panellist by channel, and a view on where to invest next.
