## Description

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to help power the discovery, quality, and expansion of markets on Slips. This role sits at the intersection of sports, culture, prediction markets, and AI, and plays a critical role in deciding what users can bet on next.

You’ll help audit live and upcoming markets, identify gaps and opportunities, and work closely with product and operations to ensure Slips offers timely, compelling, and well-structured peer-to-peer bets.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys blending data analysis with real-world awareness — always scanning what’s coming next in sports, culture, and global events.

### What You’ll Do

-   Monitor and audit current and upcoming sports schedules, cultural events, and prediction markets
-   Identify new market opportunities across sports, entertainment, politics, and culture
-   Support AI-generated market creation by reviewing, validating, and refining suggested events
-   Act as a human-in-the-loop, closing gaps, resolving edge cases, and improving market quality
-   Track trending topics, upcoming events, and global moments that translate into peer-to-peer bets
-   Analyze user behavior and engagement to inform which markets perform best
-   Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to launch markets cleanly and on time
-   Help define rules, timelines, and outcomes for new market types

## Requirements

### What We’re Looking For

-   3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or market analysis
-   Strong analytical skills with experience working in Python, SQL, or similar tools
-   Comfort working with large datasets and real-time or event-driven data
-   Ability to combine quantitative analysis with qualitative judgment
-   Strong attention to detail and a bias toward accuracy and clarity
-   Curiosity about sports, culture, and global events
-   Comfortable making decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

### Nice to Have

-   Experience with prediction markets, sports analytics, or marketplaces
-   Familiarity with AI/ML-assisted workflows
-   Experience working with APIs and third-party data providers
-   Background in fintech, gaming, or real-money platforms
-   Strong written communication skills for documenting markets and decisions
