# Junior Utilities Engineer (Drafting and Shop Drawings)

## Description

**Job Purpose:**

The Junior Utilities Engineer shall support the preparation, drafting, revision, and coordination of

utilities shop drawings for UAE infrastructure projects.

The engineer shall develop capability in utility layouts, profiles, sections, chambers, crossings,

and coordination with roads and structures.

Stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, firefighting, electrical ducts, telecom ducts,

street lighting, ITS ducts, utility corridors, chambers, manholes, gullies, catch basins, valve

chambers, crossings, and protection details.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1\. Prepare utilities shop drawings.

2\. Draft utility layouts, profiles, long sections, cross sections, chamber details, manhole

schedules, setting out drawings, and coordination drawings.

3\. Review IFC drawings, standard details, specifications, authority requirements.

4\. Extract coordinates, levels, pipe sizes, slopes, cover levels, invert levels, chamber

references, and o sets from approved drawings.

5\. Support the preparation of gravity line drawings, including stormwater and sewerage

networks.

6\. Support the preparation of pressure line drawings, including potable water, irrigation,

and firefighting.

7\. Assist in checking pipe gradients, invert levels, cover, manhole depths, and road

crossing details.

8\. Coordinate basic interfaces with roads, drainage, structures, street lighting, telecom,

electrical, and existing services.

9\. Identify simple clashes, missing levels, wrong chamber references, wrong pipe sizes,

and unclear details.

10\. Revise drawings based on senior engineer comments, consultant comments, RFI

responses, and updated IFC drawings.

11\. Prepare basic markups and drawing updates for draftsmen when instructed.

12\. Check drawing presentation, title blocks, drawing numbers, revision clouds, legends,

notes, references, and CAD layers.

13\. Maintain proper drawing files, markups, revision records, and assigned drawing trackers.

14\. Support quantity take-o and schedule preparation when required.

15\. Escalate any missing information, conflict, or unclear design item to the Senior Utilities

Engineer.

**Required Technical Capability:**

1\. Basic knowledge of utility shop drawings.

2\. Good AutoCAD and Civil 3D drafting skills.

3\. Basic understanding of gravity and pressure networks.

4\. Ability to read utility layouts, profiles, sections, and standard details.

5\. Basic understanding of pipe cover, invert level, gradient, chambers, crossings, and road

interface.

6\. Basic coordination mindset

## Requirements

**Software Requirements:**

1\. AutoCAD, good level and mandatory.

2\. Civil 3D, basic level preferred.

3\. MS Excel

**Minimum Qualifications:**

1\. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

2\. 1 to 3 years of experience in utility drafting, utility shop drawings, or infrastructure

technical o ice work.

3\. UAE or GCC project experience is preferred
