## Description

SFD Camp is a transformative summer experience where Black and Brown girls explore STEM and dance, building confidence, creativity, and technical skills. The program culminates in a showcase performance where students bring their tech-powered ideas to life.

As a Dance Facilitator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students’ learning experiences, helping them develop dance, choreography, and creative expression while fostering an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.

### WHAT YOU’ll DO

Key responsibilities will include:

-   Lead engaging dance sessions, guiding students in genres such as Hip-Hop, Step, Afro-Caribbean, Contemporary, and more.
-   Facilitate student-led choreography, helping participants create original movement pieces that integrate STEM concepts.
-   Follow and execute the provided curriculum and daily schedule, adapting as needed based on students’ progress.
-   Assess, manage, and differentiate instruction to meet varying levels of dance proficiency.
-   Co-lead a cohort of 15-25 girls alongside a STEM Facilitator, fostering a collaborative, engaging, and affirming learning environment.
-   Integrate dance with STEM themes, supporting students in exploring movement through technology, coding, and engineering concepts.
-   Assist in preparing students for the Camp Showcase, where they will present their final projects to family and the community.
-   Work closely with the Site Leader and Site Operations Lead to ensure a seamless camp experience.
-   Support general Camp logistics, including set-up, transitions, and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
-   Ensure all data collection for lessons and student progress is accurately captured.
-   Attend all required training sessions and team meetings before and during the program.
-   Support student-led projects, ensuring participants apply their knowledge to real-world creative work.
-   Establish and reinforce clear classroom norms that foster a positive, inclusive, and affirming learning space where students feel safe to explore, create, and take risks.
-   Provide individual or small-group guidance to students who need additional support in STEM concepts, ensuring that all students are engaged and progressing.
-   Guide students in exploring the intersections of STEM and dance, helping them apply computational thinking and engineering design to movement-based projects.

## Requirements

To fulfill these responsibilities, you have the following:

-   You have an educational background or work experience in dance.
-   You have prior experience facilitating dance instruction, preferably with students aged 8-18.
-   You have a demonstrated ability to manage a classroom of 15-25 students effectively.
-   You have a commitment to culturally responsive teaching and fostering an inclusive learning space.
-   You have the ability to build meaningful relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
-   You possess strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a teamwork mentality.
-   You have an energetic and engaging presence, allowing you to connect with students and keep them motivated.
-   You possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills.
-   You have the ability to balance multiple responsibilities, from lesson execution to student mentorship.

-   SFD Camp Execution: July 13 – August 1, 2026

## Benefits

SALARY: $6,500 – $10,000 for five weeks, based on experience.
