## Description

Keep the Home Safe, Supported, and Ready for the Day Ahead

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking **Overnight Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)** to provide awake overnight support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in residential homes in **Ocean County, New Jersey**.

Overnight staff play an important role in maintaining continuity of care when the rest of the household is asleep. You'll remain awake and attentive throughout the **11:00 PM–9:00 AM** shift, monitor individual well-being, respond to needs and unexpected situations, complete required documentation, and help prepare the home and individuals for the morning.

This position is well suited to someone who is dependable, observant, comfortable working independently, and committed to creating a safe and respectful home environment.

### Position Details

**Employment Type:** Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available  
**Shift:** Awake Overnight | **11:00 PM–9:00 AM**  
**Locations:** Ocean County, New Jersey, including Toms River and Brick Township  
**Starting Pay:** **$20.70 per hour**  
**Opportunity to Earn:** Up to **$24.70 per hour** through applicable shift differentials and overtime opportunities  
**Weekend Availability:** Required

**Important:** Overnight staff must remain awake and actively engaged for the entire shift.

### Stay Alert to Safety & Wellness

-   Maintain attentive overnight supervision to support the health, safety, and well-being of individuals in the residence.
-   Complete required hourly status checks and other overnight monitoring responsibilities.
-   Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, medical concerns, and unexpected situations.
-   Identify and report safety, maintenance, and environmental concerns within the home.

### Provide Individualized Support

-   Respond to individual needs while maintaining privacy, dignity, and personal choice.
-   Follow individualized behavioral, dietary, medical, mobility, and support plans.
-   Adjust your approach based on each person's needs and preferences while encouraging independence.
-   Support individuals in working toward their personal goals and maintaining a respectful home environment.
-   Administer medications in accordance with agency policies and individualized care plans.

### Prepare for a Successful Morning

As the overnight shift moves toward morning, you'll help make the transition into the day as smooth as possible.

-   Assist individuals with morning routines, including personal care, hygiene, dressing, and preparation for daily activities.
-   Provide assistance with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and other household responsibilities as needed.
-   Help maintain an organized, comfortable, and welcoming home.
-   Complete tasks that help the residence and individuals prepare for the incoming day.

### Document & Communicate

-   Complete communication logs, medication records, daily documentation, and incident reports accurately and within required timeframes.
-   Communicate important overnight observations and events to incoming staff to support consistency between shifts.
-   Work independently while maintaining appropriate communication and coordination with supervisors and other team members.

## Requirements

-   High School Diploma or GED required.
-   Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with **no more than five (5) motor vehicle points**.
-   Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment during emergency situations.
-   Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting or assisting with **up to 50 pounds**, providing mobility support, and completing household responsibilities.
-   Strong communication, reliability, organization, and problem-solving skills.
-   **Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.**
