## Description

Lead the Team That Helps Make a House a Home

The Arc of Ocean County is looking for a dependable and motivated **Assistant Group Home Manager** to help oversee the daily operations of a residential home serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in **Toms River, New Jersey**.

This position is an opportunity to step into a leadership role while remaining closely connected to the people and staff you support. Working with the Residential Program Manager, you'll help guide Direct Support Professionals, address day-to-day needs, and help ensure individuals receive consistent, respectful support in their home.

The **3:00 PM–11:00 PM** schedule places you at the center of the evening routine, when individuals may be participating in community activities, working toward personal goals, managing household routines, and preparing for the next day.

### Guide Staff & Evening Operations

-   Partner with the Residential Program Manager to keep daily residential operations organized and running effectively.
-   Provide leadership and assist with decisions during evening and weekend hours and when the Manager is unavailable.
-   Coach, supervise, and encourage Direct Support Professionals in providing quality, person-centered services.
-   Help coordinate employee schedules, arrange shift coverage, conduct orientations, and complete required staff training.
-   Promote an environment where accountability, teamwork, respect, and open communication are part of the daily workplace culture.

### Support Individual Goals & Independence

-   Assist individuals with developing daily living, social, and independent living skills.
-   Encourage participation in employment, recreation, education, and community activities that connect with individual goals.
-   Help implement Individual Habilitation Plans (IHPs) and document progress toward identified outcomes.
-   Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and maintain communication with families, guardians, and service providers.
-   Apply positive behavioral supports while respecting individual choice, dignity, and independence.

### Maintain a Safe & Well-Run Home

-   Help ensure the residence remains clean, organized, safe, and consistent with agency and regulatory expectations.
-   Monitor medical appointments, medication-related documentation, and coordination of healthcare services.
-   Review daily records, communication logs, and required electronic documentation for accuracy and completeness.
-   Assist with maintaining compliance with DDD, DHS, DCF, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
-   Participate in inspections, audits, investigations, and quality improvement activities.

### Handle the Administrative Side of Residential Services

-   Assist with household budgets, purchasing, inventory, and other residential operational needs.
-   Complete reports and administrative responsibilities within required timeframes.
-   Respond appropriately to changing circumstances and the evolving needs of the individuals served.
-   Take on additional duties that contribute to the successful operation of the residential program.

## Requirements

### Required Qualifications

-   High School Diploma or GED.
-   At least **two (2) years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in a residential setting**.
-   Valid New Jersey driver's license with **no more than five (5) motor vehicle points**.
-   Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
-   Ability to motivate staff while maintaining a positive, person-centered environment.
-   Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and adjust schedules based on program needs.
-   Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including assisting individuals with mobility and other daily support needs.
-   **Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.**
