The Improvement Association (TIA) is a nonprofit Community Action Agency dedicated to strengthening families, empowering individuals, and improving the quality of life in communities throughout Southside Virginia. Founded in 1968 by concerned citizens in Sussex County, the organization was created in response to the challenges facing low-income families and has spent more than five decades developing programs and partnerships designed to help individuals and communities become more self-sufficient.
At the heart of The Improvement Association is a commitment to helping people overcome barriers and build stronger futures. The organization describes itself as a catalyst for improving quality of life through comprehensive initiatives, advocacy, and programs that empower people to become self-sufficient.
