### Remote Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing / Orientation & Mobility Specialist

**Location:** Remote  
**Position:** Full-Time | 100% Virtual  
**Schedule:** 37.5 hours/week  
**Contract:** 2026–2027 School Year

### Position Overview

TheraPeds Partners is seeking an exceptionally specialized **Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)** with formal **Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification** to provide virtual services to students throughout the school year.

This unique remote position is designed for a professional who can combine expertise in DHH education, accessible virtual instruction, and Orientation & Mobility programming. The successful candidate will support students with complex sensory and communication needs while collaborating virtually with school teams, families, and related service providers.

### Responsibilities

-   Provide virtual specialized instruction and consultation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
-   Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies aligned with IEP goals.
-   Deliver remote consultation and instruction related to orientation, environmental awareness, spatial concepts, and independent navigation.
-   Participate in virtual IEP meetings, evaluations, eligibility meetings, transition planning, and multidisciplinary conferences.
-   Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired, audiologists, SLPs, OTs, PTs, special educators, and school administrators.
-   Support students utilizing ASL, spoken language, AAC, captioning, assistive listening technology, or other communication systems.
-   Provide virtual consultation regarding accessibility, communication access, environmental modifications, and independent living skills.
-   Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, evaluations, and service records.
-   Communicate regularly with families and educational teams regarding student progress and functional needs.
-   Adapt DHH and O&M instructional activities for delivery within a fully virtual environment.

## Requirements

### Qualifications

-   Master’s degree or higher in **Deaf Education, Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education, Special Education, or a related field**.
-   Valid state certification/licensure as a **Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing**.
-   Current professional **Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification** from a recognized credentialing organization.
-   Demonstrated experience providing both DHH educational services **and O&M services**.
-   Advanced proficiency in **American Sign Language (ASL)**.
-   Experience working with students with complex sensory, communication, developmental, and mobility needs.
-   Experience providing educational services through a teletherapy/telepractice platform.
-   Ability to independently design engaging and accessible virtual instruction.
-   Current background/fingerprint clearance as required by applicable school districts.

### Preferred Qualifications

-   **Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)** credential.
-   Dual certification in DHH Education and Visual Impairment.
-   Experience working with students who are deafblind or have dual-sensory disabilities.
-   Experience with tactile communication and Protactile approaches.
-   Knowledge of braille and tactile learning materials.
-   Experience with assistive listening devices, FM/DM systems, cochlear implant technology, and remote classroom accessibility.
-   Experience providing virtual transition services focused on postsecondary independence.
-   Previous experience delivering O&M-related instruction through telepractice.

## Benefits

**Pay:** $75–$95+/hour
