We have an exciting opportunity to join Theta as our new Assistant Accountant based in our Auckland CBD office. You will be joining a small, high-performing finance team with lots of opportunities to learn and grow your career. Embarking on the next stage of your accounting career, you will be building on your current skills and experience.

**What you’ll be doing:**

-   Managing our monthly billing process, ensuring customers are billed accurately and on time. Oversee billing hours and enforce the timely and accurate submission of timesheets by consultants, liaising with the project teams to resolve billing issues ahead of the month-end.
-   Proactively managing our customer accounts to ensure invoices are paid on time.
-   Managing the processing of supplier invoices and business credit cards.
-   Ensuring our ledgers are accurate and balance sheet reconciliations are complete.
-   Support the rest of the finance team by learning what they do and providing cover when needed.
-   Always think of new ways to do things, make things faster and simpler, and embed AI into our way of thinking.
-   Blowing people away with your willingness to help.

**Skills and experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako**

-   2 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
-   Experience in preparing and submitting NZ FBT and GST is preferred.
-   Experience in ERP accounting systems, Business Central a bonus.
-   Reconciliation experience with the ability to think of the risks in the numbers.
-   Spreadsheeting skills are your “bread and butter” with an interest in leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency, accuracy and insights.
-   Attention to detail, ability to get things done by yourself, and inquisitive.
-   Excellent communication skills, including strong verbal and written English, and the ability to discuss things with a broad range of people. Love working in a team.
