## Description

We have an immediate need for a **Senior Data Engineer** to help modernize and scale the data foundation supporting next-generation analytics and AI initiatives. This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on designing and implementing modern data architecture, improving data quality and governance, and transitioning legacy data workflows into a scalable cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate is a self-directed engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, establishing technical standards, and building scalable solutions that enable both current analytics needs and future AI capabilities.  
  
This is a long-term, W-2 contract opportunity with potential for conversion to full-time with our Fortune 50 client, based on performance and business needs.  

### Key Responsibilities

-   Design and build scalable data models and transformation frameworks
-   Develop and maintain data pipelines in BigQuery and Dataform (or dbt)
-   Implement Medallion-style data architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Semantic layers)
-   Improve data quality, documentation, governance, and development standards
-   Migrate and modernize legacy ETL processes and workflows
-   Review code, enforce best practices, and support analytics teams through scalable data solutions
-   Partner with technical stakeholders to create a foundation for future AI and ML initiatives

## Requirements

-   5+ years of **data engineering experience** in production environments
-   Strong **SQL** and **data modeling** expertise
-   Experience with **BigQuery, Dataform, dbt**, or similar cloud data platforms
-   **Python** development experience
-   Experience with **AI, LLM, MCP**, or agent-based technologies
-   Experience building and maintaining **enterprise-scale data pipelines**
-   Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehouse design
-   Experience with Git, code reviews, and modern development practices
-   Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables
