**Salary:** USD 58,000–68,000

**Workplace:** on_site

## Description

We're looking for a skilled, adaptable educator to work with two children in a private home setting in Parkland, Florida. The role is genuinely dynamic: you'll be teaching a rising fifth-grader and third-grader who learn in very different ways and need different things from you every day.

Your fifth-grader is a bright student whose academic drive often outpaces the tools he's been given. He has a diagnosis of Asperger's, dyslexia, and dysgraphia, and while he's a strong student, he benefits from an educator who knows how to design instruction around his learning profile without limiting his ambition. Your third-grader excels well above grade level across all her subjects and thrives with material that keeps pace with her.

This is a full-time placement covering math, English, reading, and science. The right educator can hold two instructional programs in their head at once and execute on both -- without making either student feel like the other is slowing them down.

**Student Profile**

You'll be working with two elementary-aged students, a fifth-grader and a third-grader. The fifth-grader is a capable, motivated student who struggles more socially than academically. His diagnoses of Asperger's, dyslexia, and dysgraphia mean he needs structured, multi-sensory approaches to reading and writing -- but he's a learner who responds well to high expectations when the right supports are in place.

The third-grader is a high achiever who consistently performs above grade level in every subject. She's the kind of student who needs material that challenges her and keeps up with her. The family wants an educator who can move at an accelerated pace for both children, meeting each of them where they are and pushing them forward from there.

**What You'll Do**

- Teach core subjects (math, English, reading, and science) to both students daily, differentiating content and pacing for a 5th-grader and 3rd-grader with very different learning profiles
- Design and adapt curriculum that challenges the third-grader at an accelerated level while supporting the fifth-grader's specific needs in reading, writing, and language processing
- Apply evidence-based strategies for dyslexia and dysgraphia in daily literacy instruction
- Build and maintain predictable structure and routines that support the fifth-grader's focus, executive function, and comfort in the learning environment
- Track each student's progress independently and adjust instruction based on what you observe week to week
- Communicate proactively with the family, sharing updates, observations, and any shifts in the instructional approach
- Manage lesson planning, materials, and daily scheduling across a full-time instructional day with two students

**What Makes Someone Successful in This Role**

- You have real experience working with students who have dyslexia, dysgraphia, or Asperger's -- and you know how to use that experience without letting it define the ceiling of what you expect from them
- Differentiated instruction comes naturally to you; holding two separate academic tracks in your head at once and executing on both in the same day is a strength you've developed
- Patient and structured, but not rigid -- you adapt when the fifth-grader needs you to without losing the thread for the third-grader
- You communicate clearly and consistently with parents, and you're comfortable being a close academic partner to the family
- Organized and dependable, you bring real discipline to lesson planning and progress tracking across two different grade levels
- A private family setting brings out your best; you carry professionalism, warmth, and good judgment into a home environment

## Requirements

**Credentials**

- Bachelor's degree preferred; degree in Education or a subject-matter field strongly preferred
- State teaching certification or licensure required (K-12 or subject-specific)
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written Spanish required
- Candidates with equivalent demonstrated experience will be considered

**Experience**

- Minimum 3 years classroom teaching, private tutoring, or homeschool instruction experience
- Proven ability to teach across multiple subjects and grade levels (all K-12 subjects considered)
- Experience working with diverse learners, including students with learning differences, gifted learners, or nontraditional educational backgrounds

**Skills**

- Curriculum design: ability to select, adapt, or build lesson plans from a variety of frameworks (classical, Charlotte Mason, project-based, or traditional)
- Differentiated instruction: comfortable adjusting pace, depth, and method to match the student
- Assessment and progress tracking: ability to set measurable academic goals and report progress clearly to parents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with digital learning tools, educational platforms, and standard productivity software

**Professional Standards**

- Current background check (required; Thrive facilitates)
- Verifiable references from prior teaching or tutoring roles
- Professionalism, discretion, and adaptability -- you are working inside someone's home

## Benefits

**Compensation**

- $58,000 - $68,000/yr, commensurate with experience, credentials, and placement scope
- Compensation is negotiated directly with the family; Thrive advocates for fair market rates on your behalf

**Logistics**

- Location: Parkland, FL (in-home)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:30 AM–3:30 PM (flexibility for enrichment days and occasional 4:30 PM close)
- Start Date: August 2026 preferred for setup and planning; academic start late August/early September

**Work Environment**

- One-on-one or small-group instruction -- no classroom management overhead
- Deep, ongoing relationships with students and families rather than high-volume throughput
- Schedule flexibility that mirrors the academic calendar you design together
- Opportunity to teach the way you believe learning actually works

**Support**

- Personalized matching -- Thrive vets families thoroughly before introductions, so your time is spent with qualified, serious clients
- Dedicated placement coordinator throughout the process
- Access to Thrive's educator network, resources, and ongoing placement opportunities
- Long-term career development: many of our educators build lasting careers across successive placements
