We are the Magnet Systems Partner for the UK Government's STEP Fusion programme, under a £70 million contract running to 2029, working with UK Fusion Energy to deliver HTS magnet systems for the STEP prototype power plant, while also contributing to tokamak systems and plasma integration. We operate through three divisions: **Fusion -** Fusion energy technologies, expertise and testbeds for government and private fusion programmes, including ST40, the world’s highest field spherical tokamak. **TE Magnetics -** HTS systems for commercial applications including fusion energy, power distribution, life sciences, and propulsion. **Ridgway Machines -** Manufacturing equipment for the superconducting, electrical and wider energy sectors,  enabling the rapid industrialisation of HTS products. _**Help shape the next generation of high-temperature superconducting magnet technology.**_ _**We're looking for a Magnet Engineer to join our growing magnet development team, working at the forefront of superconducting magnet technology for fusion energy and emerging commercial applications.**_ ### What you'll be doing - Design and develop HTS magnets and magnetic coils. - Translate performance requirements into practical engineering solutions. - Support prototype development, testing and experimental campaigns. - Analyse test data and contribute to design improvements. - Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams. - Develop software tools and analysis methods using MATLAB, Python or similar. - Contribute to technical reports and intellectual property generation. ## Requirements ### Essential experience - Degree, MSc or PhD in Physics, Engineering or related discipline, and post study industry experience - Experience with complex technical systems. - Understanding of electromagnetics, superconductivity, cryogenics or related disciplines. - Experience with modelling, simulation or technical analysis. - Programming experience using MATLAB, Python or similar. - Ability to take ownership and work collaboratively. ### Desirable experience - Superconducting magnets or magnetic systems. - COMSOL, ANSYS or OPERA. - Experimental testing experience. - Manufacturing or prototype development exposure. ## Benefits - Please note this role does offer hybrid working, our model sets out a minimum 60% onsite / 40% home working split.
