This role will be responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant workplace, reducing operational and environmental risks, and ensuring adherence to applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and other regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented leader with strong knowledge of EHS regulations and a proven ability to build a culture of safety while balancing day-to-day compliance with long-term risk reduction and continuous improvement. **This position is based on-site in our Santa Barbara, CA office. Key Responsibilities** - Lead all Environmental, Health & Safety programs for manufacturing and distribution operations. - Develop and implement programs that reduce workplace injuries, vehicle incidents, and environmental risks. - Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and compliance assessments and verify all monthly compliance requirements are being completed. - Serve as the facility subject matter expert for OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and environmental regulations. - Manage environmental compliance programs including wastewater, stormwater, ammonia, asbestos, hazardous materials, and resource conservation initiatives. - Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation and contingency plans. - Partner with Facilities, Legal and Security teams to identify safety improvement opportunities and deploy best practices. - Track EHS metrics, scorecards, dashboards, and compliance reporting. - Support workers' compensation reviews and return-to-work programs. - Coordinate permit applications and regulatory interactions with OSHA, EPA, and other agencies. - Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and leadership teams. - Lead emergency response planning and crisis management initiatives. - Participate on facility crisis management teams during major incidents. - Support continuous improvement projects and special assignments. ## Requirements **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, risk management, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, or a related field. - 6+ years of progressive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) experience within manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or other industrial environments. - Strong knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and other federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. - Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and inspections, including developing and driving corrective and preventive actions. - Experience developing, implementing, and managing environmental compliance programs, including wastewater, stormwater, hazardous materials, and other industrial environmental requirements. - Proven ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs for employees and leaders across all levels of an organization. - Experience supporting workers’ compensation programs, conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses, and developing emergency response plans. - Strong analytical skills with experience developing and utilizing EHS metrics, dashboards, and scorecards to identify trends, measure performance, and drive continuous improvement. - Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, actionable guidance for operational and business leaders. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. - Ability to travel up to 25% as needed. **Desired Qualifications** - Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading teams, programs, or cross-functional initiatives. - Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies. - Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification. - Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification. - Experience implementing, maintaining, or supporting ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS). - Experience developing, implementing, or managing organizational safety management systems and programs. ## Benefits - Flexible Time Off, Sick, Family & Medical Leave. - Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, STD (employer funded). - Vol Life, Critical Illness, Accidental, Hospital Indemnity, Pet Insurance (employee funded). - 401k with 3% non-elective company contribution. - Stock Options. - Free Parking. - Free lunch in office daily. **Umbra is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
