## Description

Our Environmental group is currently looking to add **Project Environmental Manager(s)** to our growing team.

Reporting to the Corporate Environmental Manager, we are seeking a proven environmental professional with a passion for field-based project delivery and strong leadership capabilities to provide on- and off-site leadership across all environmental aspects of large powerline construction projects across Canada. This position leads a diverse team of environmental professionals, working closely with regulatory agencies, Indigenous groups, and clients to ensure compliance, manage environmental risk, and maintain project schedules.

_Please note: This is a field-based role with travel to project sites across Canada. The successful candidate will work on-site on a rotational shift, which may vary depending on project requirements._

**Duties and Responsibilities**

-   Review and interpret environmental requirements and applicable legislation as outlined in project documents and permits, including Project EMS, CEMP, and contracts; provide recommendations to the field environmental team and Construction Managers
-   Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary environmental team, overseeing the quality of their work to ensure EMS compliance
-   Develop and submit accurate, timely, and complete environmental deliverables in accordance with Valard's Environmental Management System (EMS) and project and regulatory requirements
-   Promote the integration of environmental requirements into site operational practices and management systems, including regulatory submissions, management plans, and monitoring programs
-   Provide proactive environmental planning in collaboration with Valard's Environment, Right-of-Way, and Construction teams; liaise with operational and functional departments to support strong environmental management
-   Lead and participate in regulatory and internal audits, inspections, and investigations
-   Lead engagements and manage relationships with provincial and federal government agencies, Indigenous groups, and local communities of interest in relation to assigned projects
-   Manage environmental risks and respond to and manage environmental incidents as required; ensure construction teams receive ongoing environmental awareness
-   Manage the environmental budget and support the continuous improvement of Valard's Environmental Management System

## Requirements

-   Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Biology or a related field (e.g., Environmental Sciences or Forestry)
-   6 years of experience demonstrating leadership and supervision in an industrial setting
-   Experience managing environmental field personnel across multidisciplinary teams
-   Demonstrated knowledge of federal and provincial regulations, permitting, and environmental guidelines
-   Technical knowledge of environmental management practices related to water, wildlife (fish, mammals, herptiles, vegetation), and waste management
-   Demonstrated ability to draft wildlife-specific mitigation plans
-   Strong experience with Environmental Management Systems and environmental data management and reporting
-   Valid driver's licence and a satisfactory Driver's Abstract

**Preferred Skills / Qualifications**

-   Experience on large-scale industrial infrastructure projects in Canada
-   Experience engaging with Indigenous groups and regulatory agencies in a project delivery context
-   Experience with wildlife mitigations on Canadian projects
