## Description

**Role Overview**

We are seeking a **Chemical Engineer** to join and enhance our existing site team in **Thessaloniki**, supporting projects involving demolition, dismantling, and hazardous materials management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for on-site supervision, environmental compliance, and the safe identification, handling, classification, and management of hazardous substances and waste materials, including asbestos, lead, heavy metals, chemical residues, and contaminated waste.

**Key Responsibilities**

-   Supervise demolition and dismantling activities, ensuring compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
-   Identify, monitor, and manage hazardous materials on-site, including asbestos, heavy metals, chemical residues, and contaminated materials.
-   **Classify waste streams based on hazardous properties (HP codes), in accordance with EWC and ADR requirements.**
-   Ensure the proper segregation, packaging, labeling, storage, transportation, and disposal of waste materials in compliance with national and EU legislation.
-   Collaborate closely with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of works.
-   Maintain accurate records, reports, waste documentation, and other documentation required by regulatory authorities.
-   Conduct environmental risk assessments and recommend appropriate mitigation and control measures when required.
-   **Maintain a full-time presence on the construction site, as this is a site-based position.**

**Qualifications & Experience**

-   Degree in **Chemical Engineering (BSc or MSc)**.
-   At least 2 years of professional experience in industrial, environmental, construction, or related projects.
-   **Proven experience working on construction sites is required.**
-   Strong knowledge of environmental and occupational health & safety regulations.
-   Good computer skills, including MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD or GIS software will be considered an advantage.
-   Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
-   Valid driver’s license and availability for site-based work.
-   Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or equivalent management standards.

**Additional Preferred Qualifications**

-   Certified training in asbestos handling, HAZMAT, industrial hygiene, or related fields.
-   Experience in demolition projects involving hazardous materials.
-   **Certification or professional experience as a Hazardous Waste Expert or Environmental Assessor.**
-   **Proven experience in hazardous waste classification, sampling, and documentation.**
-   Familiarity with hazardous waste management, remediation processes, and European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes.
-   Demonstrated expertise in **hazardous waste classification, handling, and disposal in accordance with EU and national regulations** will be considered a strong asset.
