**About the Opportunity**

A leading defence and technology engineering environment is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join its Hardware Engineering team. The organisation develops advanced electronic and security technologies supporting air, land, sea, and civil security applications across local and international markets.

This opportunity is suited to technically strong engineers with experience in firmware, digital, or analog hardware design environments, particularly within high-performance and mission-critical systems.

**Role Overview**

The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced hardware and firmware solutions. The role requires strong technical capability in VHDL, FPGA-based systems, digital and analog hardware development, and hardware integration within a structured engineering environment.

Candidates should be comfortable working independently, collaborating within multidisciplinary engineering teams, and managing technical deliverables throughout the full product development lifecycle.

## Requirements

**Key Responsibilities**

• Develop reusable HDL library building blocks using industry-standard VHDL practices  
• Design high-speed digital hardware using FPGA and SOC technologies  
• Design and maintain test environments using simulation and verification tools  
• Develop and support analog and power supply design solutions  
• Perform testing, debugging, integration, and hardware bring-up activities  
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including requirements, design descriptions, and test documentation  
• Support configuration and version control management processes  
• Collaborate with project management teams to provide technical feedback and progress updates  
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality and compliance standards

**Technical Exposure**

• FPGA and SOC technologies including Xilinx, Intel/Altera, and Microsemi  
• High-speed serial interfaces  
• PCIe, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, and Aurora interfaces  
• DDR memory systems  
• High-speed A2D / D2A interfaces

**Requirements**

• BEng Degree in Electronic Engineering or related field  
• Minimum 5 years of experience within firmware, digital, or analog hardware design  
• Strong VHDL coding capability and FPGA design experience  
• Experience with testing, debugging, and hardware integration  
• Experience producing technical design and test documentation  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing within a team environment  
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
