## Description

Vision Point Systems seeks an Mechanical Design Engineer with 0-3 years of experience in using SOLIDWORKS or comparable Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) software. This position will primarily support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division with the Rapid Applied Materials Processing (RAMP) facility located in Memphis, Tennessee. Primary job responsibilities will concentrate in the drafting, and design of castings inclusive of sand molds, lifting rigs, and other tooling. Qualified candidates will be able to apply CAD skills alongside hand-calculations of heat transfer and fluid systems. Highly qualified candidates will also be able to apply modeling skills to finite element simulations for heat transfer.

**Primary Responsibilities**

-   Junior level position responsible for drafting in CAD and with potential to design tooling for castings.
-   The ability to learn basic commercial finite element and computational fluid dynamics software.
-   Existing knowledge of or willingness to learn basic metallurgy of castings to assist with research and design.

## Requirements

-   Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, civil, metallurgy, materials science/engineering, or similar is required.
-   Must have working knowledge of CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS, or Autodesk
-   Must be able to support the NAVSEA team based out of Carderock, MD with the ability to travel to Memphis, TN at least once a month to assist with operations at the RAMP facility.
-   Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. US Citizenship required.
-   Must be able to communicate at a high level in both written and verbal formats.

**Desired skills (**_**not**_ **mandatory):**

·       Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS

·       Experience using finite element software (academic experience is acceptable)

·       Experience with foundry operations or metallurgical processing
