## Requirements

**Responsibilities:**

\- Build and maintain the backend services and APIs that deliver our sports intelligence products to internal teams and external clients  
\- Design and own service and API contracts consumed by other engineering teams, including versioning, backward compatibility, and documentation  
\- Build services that serve model outputs and data products reliably, including real-time and high-traffic paths  
\- Integrate backend services with data platforms, warehouses, and model serving layers  
\- Ensure services are production-ready: monitoring, alerting, logging, and clean operational handover to the teams that run them  
\- Contribute to architecture and technical decisions across the team  
\- Write well-tested, maintainable code and take part in code review

**Requirements:**

\- 5+ years building and shipping backend services in production  
\- Strong Python; solid SQL and working knowledge of relational databases  
\- Experience designing and building REST APIs, including versioning and managing breaking changes  
\- Understanding of caching, and of performance and scalability in read-heavy systems  
\- Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerised deployment  
\- Familiarity with CI/CD, testing practices, and observability tooling  
\- Ability to work from a specification and ask good questions when it's incomplete
