We are looking for an experienced **Backend Engineer** to join a fast-growing technology environment focused on building reliable, scalable, and high-performance digital products. The role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in a **0-to-1 product environment**, solving complex backend challenges, and building systems that can support rapid business growth.

You will play an important role in developing the backend foundation for a technology-driven consumer platform, with opportunities to work on modern **AI-powered search and discovery experiences**. The role requires strong engineering fundamentals, ownership, and the ability to translate product requirements into robust technical solutions.

## Requirements

Key Responsibilities

-   Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.
-   Build reliable, secure, and high-performance **RESTful APIs** and backend components.
-   Develop backend capabilities supporting **AI-powered search, discovery, and personalised user experiences**.
-   Translate product and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
-   Design efficient service architectures, data models, and backend workflows.

What Makes You a Great Fit

-   **4+ years of professional experience** in backend software engineering.
-   Strong hands-on experience building scalable backend services and production-grade APIs.
-   Strong understanding of **backend architecture, REST APIs, databases, and distributed systems**.
-   Experience developing reliable systems with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
-   Exposure to **AI search, search technologies, information retrieval, or AI-powered product experiences** is highly desirable.
-   Strong programming fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and design principles.
