As a Digii Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for developing scalable and maintainable backend services that support business-critical applications. You will work extensively with **Java and Spring-based technologies**, design RESTful APIs, and build event-driven solutions using **Kafka**.

The role involves participating throughout the software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and designing solutions to development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support. You will also contribute to improving system performance, reliability, security, and engineering practices.

## Requirements

### Key Responsibilities

-   Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using **Java and Spring**.
-   Build robust, secure, and high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.
-   Develop event-driven and distributed systems using **Apache Kafka**.
-   Design efficient application architectures that support scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
-   Translate functional and technical requirements into well-designed software solutions.
-   Write clean, reusable, testable, and maintainable code following established engineering standards.
-   Participate in code reviews and contribute to coding standards and best practices.
-   Troubleshoot application issues and identify root causes across development and production environments.
-   Optimise application performance, scalability, and resource utilisation.

### What Makes You a Great Fit

-   **4+ years of professional experience** in backend software development.
-   Strong hands-on expertise in **Java** and object-oriented programming.
-   Solid experience with **Spring Framework / Spring Boot** and developing enterprise applications.
-   Strong understanding of **Apache Kafka**, event-driven architecture, producers, consumers, topics, partitions, and message-processing patterns.
-   Proven experience designing and developing **RESTful APIs and microservices**.
