We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented **India Payroll Manager** to take end-to-end ownership of payroll operations and statutory compliance for a growing organisation in Bengaluru.

This is a hands-on role suited for a payroll professional who can independently manage the complete payroll lifecycle, strengthen statutory compliance, resolve existing compliance gaps, and establish robust, audit-ready payroll processes. The ideal candidate will combine strong payroll expertise with excellent attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to work effectively with external consultants and service providers.

## Requirements

### KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

-   Own the complete monthly payroll cycle for approximately **150 employees** using Zoho Payroll or a similar payroll platform.
-   Process new joiners, salary changes, arrears, deductions, adjustments, and full and final settlements accurately and on time.
-   Manage end-to-end **EPF and EPFO compliance**, including portal activities, filings, payments, and supporting documentation.
-   Manage **Professional Tax, ESI, and TDS on salaries**, ensuring timely payments, filings, and evidence.
-   Identify, investigate, and clear existing statutory compliance backlogs.
-   Maintain audit-ready payroll registers, challans, reconciliations, employee records, and statutory documentation.
-   Prepare and manage **Form 16 and Form 24Q** requirements.
-   Manage employee investment declarations, tax proofs, and related payroll documentation.
-   Perform monthly reconciliation of payroll figures with the **general ledger and books of accounts**.
-   Ensure payroll-related balances, deductions, statutory liabilities, and payments are accurately reconciled.
-   Coordinate with the payroll calculation vendor and ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
-   Manage relationships with the **CA firm, EPF consultant, and other payroll service providers**.
-   Monitor statutory deadlines and ensure all payroll compliance obligations are completed within prescribed timelines.
-   Support internal and external audits by providing accurate payroll records, reconciliations, filings, and supporting evidence.
-   Identify payroll and compliance risks and implement corrective actions to strengthen controls.
-   Maintain accurate employee-level statutory records and ensure payroll documentation is complete and accessible.
-   Partner with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and improve payroll processes.
-   Continuously improve payroll controls, documentation, reconciliation processes, and compliance governance.

### WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT

-   **4–7 years of hands-on experience managing India payroll end to end**, with at least 2 years as the primary payroll owner.
-   Strong practical knowledge of **Indian payroll processing and statutory compliance**.
-   Hands-on experience with the **EPFO portal**, Professional Tax payment portals, TDS challans, and **Form 24Q**.
-   Strong understanding of **EPF, ESI, Professional Tax, TDS, Form 16, investment declarations, and payroll taxation**.
-   Experience using payroll platforms such as **Zoho Payroll, Keka, Darwinbox, greytHR, or RazorpayX Payroll**.
-   Proven experience cleaning up a **statutory compliance backlog** or managing payroll through a statutory/financial audit.
-   Strong experience with payroll-to-ledger reconciliation and payroll accounting controls.
-   Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and documentation.
-   Strong understanding of payroll audit requirements and evidence management.
-   Experience managing external payroll vendors, consultants, CA firms, and statutory advisors.
-   Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues independently.
-   Excellent organisational and time-management skills, particularly when managing statutory deadlines.
-   Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills across HR, Finance, employees, vendors, and consultants.
-   High level of ownership, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability when handling sensitive payroll information.
-   Comfortable working **in-office in Bengaluru** and taking full ownership of payroll and compliance operations.
