The Program Officer - Livestock & Animal Health will support technically intensive interventions focused on Artificial Insemination (AI), Sex-Sorted Semen deployment, Embryo Transfer (ET), IVF programs, animal health systems strengthening, and scientific feeding strategies.  
 

The role requires deep technical expertise in reproductive biotechnology, herd health management, and livestock productivity enhancement. The position will support design, implementation, and scaling of advanced breeding and health systems in collaboration with government departments, veterinary institutions, dairy cooperatives, and private technology providers.  
 

This is a technical role focused on improving fertility outcomes, genetic advancement, animal productivity, and herd health at scale.

## Requirements

**Roles & Responsibilities**  
**1\. Artificial Insemination & Breeding Systems Strengthening**  
 Strengthen AI service delivery models including doorstep AI and cluster-based breeding systems.  
 Monitor and improve conception rates and service quality.  
 Support quality control in semen handling, storage (LN2 chain), and field deployment.  
 Develop protocols to improve repeat breeding management and reproductive efficiency.

  
**2\. Sex-Sorted Semen & Genetic Improvement Programs**  
 Support rollout and monitoring of sex-sorted semen programs.  
 Identify high-potential clusters for targeted genetic improvement.  
 Track performance indicators including conception rate, calving rate, and female calf ratio.  
 Support training of AI technicians on proper deployment and handling protocols.

  
**3\. Embryo Transfer (ET) & IVF Programs**  
 Coordinate planning and implementation of Embryo Transfer (ET) and IVF-based genetic improvement initiatives.  
 Support donor and recipient animal selection protocols.  
 Monitor pregnancy confirmation rates and embryo survival outcomes.

 Coordinate with certified ET practitioners, veterinary universities, and biotechnology partners.  
 Develop scale-up strategies for high-genetic-merit herd development.

  
**4\. Animal Health Systems & Disease Management**  
 Strengthen preventive health programs including vaccination, deworming, and disease surveillance.  
 Improve herd health management protocols and morbidity reduction strategies.  
 Monitor livestock mortality, disease incidence, and health service coverage.  
 Support convergence with state veterinary infrastructure and disease control programs.

  
**5\. Feeding, Nutrition & Productivity Enhancement**  
 Support scientific feeding interventions including ration balancing and fodder system improvements.  
 Promote Total Mixed Ration (TMR) or cluster-based feeding models where feasible.  
 Integrate nutrition strategies with reproductive performance improvement.  
 Track productivity gains including milk yield, body condition score, and growth parameters.

  
**6\. Capacity Building & Technical Supervision**  
 Train veterinarians, AI technicians, para-vets, and field workers on advanced reproductive technologies.  
 Develop technical SOPs and operational guidelines for AI, ET, IVF, and herd health management.  
 Conduct technical reviews and performance audits of service delivery systems.

**7\. Monitoring, Data Analytics & Reporting**  
 Track key technical indicators including:  
 AI numbers and conception rates  
 Sex-sorted semen performance metrics  
 ET/IVF pregnancy success rates  
 Disease incidence and vaccination coverage  
 Productivity improvements (milk yield, fertility cycle efficiency)  
 Develop dashboards and analytical reports for internal and donor reporting.  
 Support evidence-based improvement of breeding and health systems.

  
**Qualifications & Experience**

  
**Educational Qualification (Mandatory)**  
** PhD or MVSc (Master of Veterinary Science &amp; Animal Husbandry) – Mandatory**

**Experience**  
 For MVSc candidates , Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI, reproductive technologies, or advanced breeding programs.  
 For candidates with PhD, fresher or experienced both are preferred.  
 Demonstrated experience in:  
 AI program management  
 Sex-sorted semen deployment  
 Embryo Transfer (ET) programs  
 IVF-based breeding initiatives  
 Herd health and reproductive management

 Experience working with state AHD, dairy federations, or livestock partners preferred.

  
**Core Technical Competencies**  
 Strong understanding of reproductive physiology and fertility management.  
 Hands-on knowledge of semen handling, cryopreservation logistics, and LN2 chain management.  
 Experience in ET protocols, synchronization, and donor-recipient management.  
 Knowledge of disease surveillance and vaccination planning.  
 Ability to link breeding, nutrition, and productivity systems.
