We are looking for an experienced **Senior Python Backend Engineer** to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems. The role requires strong expertise in **Python, FastAPI/Flask, databases, asynchronous programming, microservices, and cloud-native technologies**.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, and hands-on experience building reliable backend services that can operate at scale. You will contribute to technical design, application architecture, performance optimisation, and the development of robust production-ready systems.

## Requirements

Key Responsibilities

-   Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using **Python 3.x**.
-   Build high-performance APIs and backend services using **FastAPI and/or Flask**.
-   Design and implement robust **RESTful APIs** following industry standards.
-   Develop and maintain API specifications and documentation using **OpenAPI and Swagger**.
-   Design and optimise database schemas and data-access layers using **SQLAlchemy ORM**.
-   Implement effective session management, database transactions, and reliable data-processing workflows.
-   Work with **PostgreSQL and/or MySQL** for application development and data management.
-   Perform query optimisation, indexing, database performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
-   Develop applications using appropriate **multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming**techniques.
-   Ensure backend services are thread-safe, reliable, and capable of handling concurrent workloads.
-   Design and develop scalable **microservices and distributed systems**.
-   Contribute to application architecture and technical design decisions.
-   Containerise applications using **Docker** and manage deployments using **Kubernetes**.
-   Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot applications on **Google Cloud Platform (GCP)**.
-   Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimisation strategies.
-   Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable code following established engineering standards.
-   Develop unit tests and participate in code reviews to maintain high software quality.
