We are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering – Full Stack / Backend Engineering to help drive the development of an AI-powered regulatory intelligence platform focused on life sciences and healthcare compliance. This role is ideal for a highly technical engineering leader who thrives on solving complex backend and AI-driven challenges while contributing to scalable SaaS platform development.

You will play a critical role in building and evolving core platform capabilities, including AI-powered document analysis, intelligent retrieval systems, data pipelines, and cloud-native infrastructure. Working closely with leadership, product, and regulatory operations teams, you will help translate strategic vision into robust, production-grade software solutions that support high-impact compliance workflows.

The role combines hands-on engineering with growing technical leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape platform architecture, mentor engineers, and contribute directly to the evolution of advanced AI systems in a regulated industry environment.

## Requirements

**Key Responsibilities**

-   Design, build, and optimize scalable backend services and platform infrastructure
-   Own critical platform components including document ingestion pipelines, search and retrieval systems, APIs, and data models
-   Develop and maintain AI-powered features such as RAG pipelines, LLM-driven analysis, entity extraction, summarization, and intelligent retrieval systems
-   Integrate and evaluate modern AI technologies, vector databases, embedding pipelines, and orchestration frameworks
-   Improve AI output quality, retrieval relevance, and system reliability in high-stakes regulatory environments
-   Contribute to architectural decisions, system scalability, and engineering best practices
-   Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while maintaining high code quality standards through reviews and technical guidance
-   Collaborate closely with product, design, and domain teams to refine technical requirements and solution approaches
-   Mentor and support engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
-   Participate in hiring, technical evaluations, and engineering process improvements
-   Support cloud-native deployments, CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and infrastructure automation

**What Makes You a Great Fit**

-   7–11 years of software engineering experience with strong exposure to SaaS platform development
-   Strong expertise in Python for backend systems, AI integrations, and data pipelines
-   Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications, RAG architectures, and AI-driven retrieval systems
-   Experience working with vector databases, embedding workflows, and modern LLM APIs
-   Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, along with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices
-   Experience designing scalable REST or GraphQL APIs
-   Familiarity with React or modern frontend technologies is a plus
-   Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to work in complex, evolving environments
-   Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
-   Ability to operate with ownership, initiative, and a long-term platform mindset
-   Exposure to healthcare, regulatory, or other highly regulated environments is highly valuable
