We are seeking an experienced **Cloud Security Engineer** to design, implement, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure while ensuring compliance with modern security standards and best practices. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in **Cloud Security**, extensive hands-on experience with **Linode** cloud infrastructure, and strong proficiency in **Terraform** for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This role requires a strategic thinker who can build secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments while collaborating with engineering, DevOps, and platform teams.

As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will be responsible for developing cloud security strategies, implementing automated security controls, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring that cloud-native applications and infrastructure remain protected against evolving cyber threats. You will also play a key role in driving security automation, governance, and compliance initiatives across cloud environments.

## Requirements

### Key Responsibilities

-   Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure on **Linode**.
-   Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices across engineering teams.
-   Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using **Terraform** to automate provisioning and security configurations.
-   Implement identity and access management (IAM), network segmentation, encryption, and secure access controls.
-   Perform cloud security architecture reviews and recommend improvements to strengthen infrastructure security.
-   Continuously monitor cloud environments for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and security threats.
-   Develop automated security guardrails and integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines.
-   Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability management, and remediation planning.
-   Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and development teams to ensure secure application deployments.
-   Implement logging, monitoring, and incident response mechanisms for cloud environments.
-   Support compliance initiatives aligned with industry standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, CIS Benchmarks, and other regulatory frameworks.
-   Respond to security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventive measures.
-   Evaluate emerging cloud security technologies and recommend enhancements to improve overall security posture.
-   Document security architectures, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards.

### Required Skills & Qualifications

-   8–18 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, or cloud engineering.
-   Strong hands-on experience with **Linode** cloud platform.
-   Expertise in **Cloud Security** architecture, governance, and operational best practices.
-   Advanced proficiency with **Terraform** for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
-   Strong understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, DNS, load balancers, and secure network design.
-   Experience implementing IAM, encryption, secrets management, and key management solutions.
-   Knowledge of Linux system administration and cloud-native security practices.
-   Experience with container security, Kubernetes security, and microservices architecture.
-   Familiarity with security monitoring, SIEM solutions, vulnerability management tools, and incident response processes.
-   Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation.
-   Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
-   Strong communication skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.

### Preferred Qualifications

-   Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security integration.
-   Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, or NIST.
-   Experience implementing zero-trust security models.
-   Relevant cloud security or cybersecurity certifications are highly desirable.
-   Experience working in highly available, large-scale production environments.
