We are looking for an experienced **Virtualization Engineer** to design, administer, maintain, and optimise enterprise virtualisation environments with a strong focus on **Nutanix, VMware, compute infrastructure, monitoring, and automation**.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise across **Nutanix AOS, Nutanix AHV, VMware ESXi, and Cisco UCS compute infrastructure**, along with strong troubleshooting and virtualisation administration capabilities. The role will also involve proactive infrastructure monitoring using **AIOps** and improving operational efficiency through **PowerShell scripting and automation**.

You will play a key role in maintaining highly available, reliable, secure, and high-performing virtualisation platforms supporting critical production workloads.

## Requirements

Key Responsibilities

-   Administer and maintain **Nutanix AOS and Nutanix AHV** virtualisation environments.
-   Manage and support **VMware ESXi** hosts, clusters, and virtual machine environments.
-   Support **Cisco UCS compute infrastructure**, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
-   Perform virtual machine provisioning, deployment, migration, resizing, resource allocation, and lifecycle management.
-   Monitor virtualisation platforms for availability, performance, capacity, resource utilisation, and overall health.
-   Troubleshoot VM, host, cluster, compute, hardware, and virtualisation-related incidents.
-   Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring infrastructure issues.
-   Configure and maintain **high-availability and resilient virtualisation environments**.
-   Support infrastructure patching, upgrades, firmware updates, configuration changes, and technology refresh activities.
-   Implement and maintain **AIOps-based proactive monitoring, alerting, and health-check mechanisms**.
-   Identify performance bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and potential infrastructure failures before they affect production.
-   Develop and maintain **PowerShell scripts** to automate virtualisation administration and repetitive operational tasks.
-   Identify opportunities to improve virtualisation operations through automation, standardisation, and process optimisation.
-   Support capacity planning, resource forecasting, and performance optimisation across virtualisation environments.
-   Assist with backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and virtual machine recovery activities.
-   Support virtualisation migrations, infrastructure consolidation, and platform modernisation initiatives.
-   Maintain accurate configuration documentation, operational procedures, asset records, and technical standards.
-   Collaborate with network, storage, security, database, application, and operations teams to resolve cross-functional infrastructure issues.
-   Follow established change, incident, problem-management, security, and operational processes.

What Makes You a Great Fit

-   **4+ years of experience** in virtualization engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or enterprise data-centre operations.
-   Strong hands-on experience with **Nutanix AOS and Nutanix AHV**.
-   Proven experience administering and troubleshooting **VMware ESXi** environments.
-   Practical experience with **Cisco UCS compute hardware** and enterprise server infrastructure.
-   Strong understanding of virtualization concepts including **VMs, clusters, hosts, resource allocation, HA, capacity, and performance management**.
-   Experience with virtual machine provisioning, migrations, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
-   Strong knowledge of enterprise compute, storage, networking, and infrastructure operations.
-   Experience with infrastructure monitoring, alerting, performance management, and capacity planning.
-   Exposure to **AIOps and proactive infrastructure monitoring**.
-   Strong hands-on experience with **PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation**.
-   Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity concepts.
-   Familiarity with infrastructure automation or Infrastructure as Code practices is an advantage.
-   Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
-   Experience supporting production virtualisation environments with high availability and reliability requirements.
-   Strong understanding of infrastructure change, incident, problem, and lifecycle management.
-   Good communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple technical teams.
-   Proactive approach to identifying infrastructure risks and improving platform performance and operational efficiency.
-   Ability to independently own technical issues and drive them through resolution.
