We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented **Design Engineer** with **3–6 years of experience** in mechanical design, particularly in **sheet metal design and switchgear** applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in **Creo**, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to develop accurate, production-ready designs. You will be responsible for designing, modifying, and optimizing components and assemblies while working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.

## Requirements

### Key Responsibilities

-   Create, develop, and modify detailed **3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings** using **Creo**.
-   Design and develop **sheet metal components and assemblies**, including enclosures, brackets, panels, covers, supports, and other fabricated parts.
-   Work on mechanical designs for **switchgear and electrical equipment**, ensuring designs meet functional, dimensional, and manufacturing requirements.
-   Prepare detailed engineering drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, material specifications, and manufacturing information.
-   Convert design concepts and engineering requirements into practical and cost-effective mechanical solutions.
-   Perform design calculations and engineering evaluations wherever required to validate component strength, fit, functionality, and manufacturability.
-   Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering documentation, and design specifications.
-   Collaborate with manufacturing, production, electrical engineering, quality, procurement, and suppliers to resolve design and production-related issues.
-   Review existing designs and identify opportunities for **cost reduction, standardization, performance improvement, and ease of manufacturing**.
-   Incorporate engineering changes and customer or project requirements into existing product designs.
-   Conduct design reviews and ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and company processes.
-   Support prototype development, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical components and assemblies.
-   Coordinate with vendors and fabrication teams to ensure components are manufactured according to approved drawings and specifications.
-   Maintain proper revision control and ensure all engineering drawings and design documentation are accurate and up to date.

### Must-Have Skills

-   Strong hands-on experience with **Creo** for 3D modeling, assemblies, and 2D drafting.
-   Proven experience in **sheet metal design**, including bend allowances, flat patterns, bend reliefs, forming operations, and fabrication considerations.
-   Practical experience designing components and assemblies for **switchgear and electrical equipment**.
-   Good understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and GD&T.
-   Ability to interpret engineering drawings and convert functional requirements into manufacturable designs.
-   Strong knowledge of fabrication processes such as laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, and related sheet metal manufacturing techniques.
-   Experience with BOM creation, engineering documentation, and design change management.
-   Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
-   Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

### Education & Experience

-   Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in **Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline**.
-   **3–6 years of relevant experience** in mechanical/product design.
-   Experience in **switchgear, electrical panels, industrial equipment, or similar engineering products** will be highly relevant.

### Good-to-Have Skills

-   Experience with electrical enclosure and panel design.
-   Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles.
-   Familiarity with ERP/PDM/PLM systems.
-   Exposure to prototype development and product testing.
-   Understanding of relevant industry standards for electrical equipment and enclosures.
