## Description

Western Engineering Co., Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable **Truck Mechanic** to join our maintenance team. As a Truck Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of heavy-duty trucks and support equipment used in asphalt paving and construction operations throughout Iowa and Nebraska.

### Responsibilities

-   Perform preventative maintenance on diesel trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
-   Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulic, electrical, and air systems.
-   Complete inspections and identify potential mechanical issues before failures occur.
-   Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic equipment.
-   Perform emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
-   Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
-   Ensure all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards.
-   Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
-   Communicate repair needs and equipment status with supervisors and drivers.
-   Assist with other fleet maintenance projects as needed.

## Requirements

-   Experience as a diesel or heavy truck mechanic.

-   Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, and heavy-duty truck maintenance.

-   Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical failures efficiently.

-   Experience using diagnostic software and repair tools.

-   Ability to read service manuals and repair schematics.

-   Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one.

-   Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

-   Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in shop and field environments.

-   Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
-   Must possess your own tools.
