XRC Labs was founded in 2015 by Pano Anthos with the collaborative support of Parsons School of Design and Kurt Salmon, in response to a need he saw in the marketplace: to support new businesses that were striving to change the status quo in the retail and consumer goods marketplace. He gathered together partners, sponsors, and mentors who were each uniquely equipped to contribute to the expertise we share with the members of our cohort so they can succeed. He created a first-of-its-kind accelerator to address a gap in the marketplace.
We work exclusively in the retail and consumer goods sectors, but have a broad definition of the types of startups that might apply to. It might be a SaaS solution. A new product. A logistics platform. An innovation. We aim to foster rapid innovation and unlock new opportunities in retail, maximizing the best experience for consumers and producers.
How do we do that?
After the application process, up to ten selected startups come to New York to participate in our 14-week program held on the Parsons campus. We provide them with workspace for the duration of the program, access to capital, mentoring, workshops and curriculum, and operational support. The goal: that each emerging company graduate from XRC Labs with honed skills, perfected product ideas, solid business plans, a priceless new network and, hopefully, investor interest they can act on. To ensure we’re offering the best program possible, we conduct exit interviews with the founders to learn what we can do to augment and improve each cohort. And we stay in touch, continually checking in to be sure we’re supporting our cohort companies through the lifespan of their business... which we hope is a very long time.
We believe this niche is an exciting and important one to pursue. We think there are intelligent founders out there with great Big Ideas we’d like everyone to experience. We’ll be relying on you to add your skills and expertise to this work, to be a factor in their success, and ours.
