Ltd. · Singapore, Singapore · Contract · Posted 2026-07-07 **Workplace:** on_site **Department:** Infra ## Description At Xtremax, we're looking for a **Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server & Azure)** to support enterprise-scale database platforms that power mission-critical digital services within Singapore's public sector. You'll work on Microsoft SQL Server environments hosted on **Singapore's Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC)** as part of the **Singapore Government Technology Stack (SGTS)**. From Azure SQL Managed Instance and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines to high availability, disaster recovery, database security, and performance optimisation, you'll play a key role in ensuring critical systems remain secure, resilient, and highly available. Working closely with Cloud Platform Engineers, DevSecOps teams, and application developers, you'll manage the full database lifecycle—from provisioning and migration to monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced DBAs looking to deepen their expertise in Azure database technologies within a highly governed cloud environment. ### Key Responsibilities - Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments running on Azure Virtual Machines and Azure SQL Managed Instance. - Provision, configure, and optimise SQL Server databases to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. - Design and maintain backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies, including regular recovery testing. - Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and optimise queries, indexes, and execution plans. - Manage SQL Server security including authentication, role-based access control, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Row-Level Security (RLS), Dynamic Data Masking (DDM), and Always Encrypted. - Configure and support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and other high availability technologies. - Support database migrations using Azure Database Migration Service (DMS) and Database Migration Assistant (DMA). - Implement monitoring, alerting, and auditing using Azure Monitor, Microsoft Defender for SQL, Microsoft Sentinel, and related Azure services. - Develop and maintain database operational runbooks, technical documentation, and disaster recovery procedures. - Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to deliver secure, reliable, and highly available database services. ## Requirements - Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. - At least 5 years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration experience. - Strong experience managing SQL Server 2016 or later in production environments. - Experience administering SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance. - Strong knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, query optimisation, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning. - Experience implementing SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups. - Hands-on experience with database backup, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery testing. - Good understanding of SQL Server security features including TDE, Dynamic Data Masking, Always Encrypted, auditing, and role-based access control. - Experience working with Azure Monitor, Azure SQL monitoring, or similar database monitoring platforms. - Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. ### Preferred - Experience working within the **Singapore Government Technology Stack (SGTS)** or **Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC)** environments. - Familiarity with Azure database services such as Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Cache for Redis, or Azure Data Factory. - Experience integrating database administration with DevSecOps practices using Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps, or Infrastructure as Code. - Familiarity with regulated cloud environments and governance frameworks such as IM8, MTCS SS 584, ISO 27001, or equivalent. - Microsoft certifications such as DP-300, Azure Database Administrator Associate, AZ-104, or AZ-900 ## Benefits By submitting your resume/CV, you consent and agree to allow the information provided to be used and processed by or on behalf of Xtremax Pte Ltd for purposes related to your registration of interest in current or future employment with us and for the processing of your application for employment.
